What are Christians expecting today from their houses of worship?
Inspiration? Hope? Encouragement? Life Lessons?
Those expectations are dead and have been dead for sometime.
Churches today are propped up as if it they are real living beings. That’s a great deceit and this lie has been propagated too long about the vitality and creativity of today’s churches, especially black churches.
That notion only serves the interest of the preachers and their handlers. These fellows have to be brought down a peg or two, or even further. They are excellent functionaries but as far as moral responsibilities are concerned They speak with forked tongues. They are ventriloquists, rather than prophets of the Lord.
Take some of the local churches in Seattle, churches that have been in existence for years. They’re being torn apart by men in fancy robes holding bibles they don’t even follow. They walk in bringing nothing but a desire to elevate themselves and to use the churches funds to live high on the hog.
We’ve had recent references to men like Tony Morris and Garry Tyson. The problems with these men are documented in court. The Tony Morris story has already been told.
But who is Garry L Tyson & Nicole L Tyson?
This is a true saying, if a man desires the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 1 Timothy (KJV) chapter 3: 1-13
Now that you have read the requirements of a Bishop who is called by God, please assist me in understanding what you do to exp ose those who seek to destroy the sanctity of the church while using their position as a Bishop to fleece the church. For many, not all! They have used the church as their own personal open check book to live a life of luxury. They have used the title of Minister, Clergy, Bishop, and Pastor to turn their “Ministry” into legalized hustling! We cannot with a good conscience idly sit by and watch this happen without doing our part to expose what we know. We must call attention to these imposters in hopes that those who are guilty will confess their sins, turn from their wicked ways and seek restoration! If by exposing these wolves in sheep’s clothing, just one person avoids being hurt or preyed upon then this will not be in vain!
“Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, yours sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its workings]”. James 5:16
The founding Pastor of Goodwill was Dr. Norman Mitchell, he and his wife Aridell where the epitome of what I believe God’s chosen son and daughter to be. Not perfect, but ever striving to be the man and woman that God called them to be! It absolutely breaks my heart to see Goodwill now being run more like a cult then a house of God. Webster’s Dictionary defines a cult as “ 1.: formal religious veneration 2.: a religious system; also: its adherents 3: faddish devotion; also: a group of persons showing such devotion – cult*ish”. In essence and in the case of Goodwill one person in charge making all the decisions and if you speak out against the leader or question his decisions or doctrine you are removed! He has a group of individuals who look the other way and continue to blindly fawn over and submit themselves to their leaders cult like teachings.
“Thus says the Lord of hosts: Do not listen to the words of the [false] prophets who prophesy to you. They teach you vanity (emptiness, falsity, and futility) and fill you with vain hopes; they speak a vision of their own minds and not from the mouth of the Lord.” Jeremiah 23:16
While Goodwill, like many local congregations have seen many Pastors come and go over the years. I take that to mean, that because many of us where taught the word and we know and study the word for ourselves, we know and can tell by the fruit that=2 0they bear, a True Man of God and an imposter. I take personal pride in not being willing to sit under just any type of leadership. Imagine the courage that it takes to say, “I will not sit under teaching that I KNOW to be contrary to the word of God”! You are publicly stoned and ridiculed, after all, how dare you speak out against the Pastor. Over and over again the scripture is used “Touch not my anointed” as a threat to not speak out about something wrong that a Minister does. I do not believe that this scripture was just intended for Men and Women of the cloth, but rather all children who were called by Gods name. If you are a child of God, you have been anointed and appointed for a God given purpose in life.
Garry L. Tyson and Nicole L. Tyson use their position as “church leaders” to victimize unsuspecting individuals into financing their outlandish life style and scorn publicly anyone who does not comply! They have literally high jacked Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church and what angers me more than anything is that there are those who knew who and what these people where and kept their mouth shut!
If you attend Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church - 126- 15th Avenue. Seattle, WA on any given Sunday you can hear Garry and Nicole admonish members for “Not submitting to their leader” or advise them that “If you bless your first family the Lord will bless you”. You might even hear Garry advise members to get a monetary “seed” in their hand and come to the alter to receive a blessing. All of these things are contrary to the word of God.
“I warn and counsel the elde rs among you (the Pastors and spiritual guides of the church) as a fellow elder and as an eyewitness [called to testify] of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a sharer in the glory (the honor and splendor) that is to be revealed (disclosed, unfolded): Tend (nurture, guard, guide, and fold) the flock of God that is [your responsibility], not by coercion or constraint, but willingly; not dishonorably motivated by the advantages and profits [belonging to the office], but eagerly and cheerfully; Not domineering [as arrogant, dictatorial, and overbearing persons] over those in your charge, but being examples (patterns and models of Christian living) to the flock (the congregation). And [then] when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will win the conqueror’s crown of glory.” I Peter 5:1-4
Publicly Garry and Nicole Publish the following Facts About Themselves:
Garry L Tyson graduated from Bradford High School in Starke, Florida
Garry L Tyson says that he is the father of three children (two sons and one daughter).
Garry L Tyson received his Bachelors of Arts Degree, Master’s and Doctorate Degree in Christian Counseling from Brevard Christian University, Cocoa Beach, Florida [PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN LOCATE THIS SCHOOL]
Garry L Tyson was licensed to preach in 1987 and ordained into ministry in 1993, both at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Cocoa Beach, Florida
Nicole L. Tyson was born in Sacramento, California and reared in Trenton, New Jersey.
Nicole L. Tyson graduated from Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, Florida.Nicole L. Tyson received her Bachelor of Arts Degree, Master’s and Doctorate Degree in Christian Counseling from Brevard Christian University - Cocoa20Beach, Florida. [PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN LOCATE THIS SCHOOL]
Nicole L. Tyson was licensed to preach the Gospel in January of 1996 and ordained into Ministry in 2000, both at Greater Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Deland, Florida. Garry Tyson bestowed the title of Elder on her himself.
Unpublished truths are:
In a search of his background two of Garry L. Tyson’s previous addresses in Florida are listed as: The Columbia Rehabilitation Center in Deltona, Fl, an alcohol treatment center.
The Quick Care Medical Treatment Center in Deland, FL.
Garry L. Tyson and Nicole L. Tyson have a very long public record's history from Florida to Seattle (repossessed car, foreclosed home, IRS troubles, non-payment of bills).
Garry L. Tyson is currently embroiled in legal proceedings against Trustees of the Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church and a select group of Deacons who voted to recommend to the congregation to not renew the contract of Garry L. Tyson.
Please see “State of Washington King County Superior Court No: 08-2-10178-9 SEA”
Upon hearing that his sweet gig would be up, Garry came out swinging. In a drama that was made for television, Garry conspired to have the entire Trustee Board and Deacons removed from office. Of course Garry lies and says that he “personally” has not done anything. He did not suggest that the doors of the church be changed and the Trustees locked out. He did not use the churches money to pay for his attorney fees. He is not in control of every aspect of the churches business from collecting the mail to determining how every penny is allocated.
When a church member stood up and asked Garry Tyson, if he had received part of Antonio Tarvers tithes that he sent to Goodwill. He replied that he advised the Deacons that Antonio wanted him to half of the tithes and they agreed, he did not hold a gun to their heads.
He contends that he did nothing wrong. The Deacons gave him the money after all. He has no moral responsibility in this right?
Garry said that the word “broke” has never been in his vocabulary. He is supposed to live in a million dollar house, drive two luxury cars (one of which the current Chairman of the Deacon board cosigned for). The list goes on and on and on.
So what are we to do? Do we sit by and allow moral corruption to continue to run ramped in our churches or do we speak up and out and hold these supposed “men of God” accountable for their actions.
Do we pray that he leaves Goodwill only to show up at some other unsuspecting church and destroy their trust in the clergy?

Our wish with this blog is that the truth comes out. From Florida to Seattle, and any states or city in between. Please take a stand and refuse to continue the vow of silence. Take the time to make the right choice and speak out against wrong. Don’t allow people like this to prey on another congregation or another unsuspecting victim.

1 – 200 of 229 Newer› Newest»This is a new low when a Pastor would encourage the garbage that was placed on this blog
and removed by the owner. When you are so guilty of your own wrong doing that you would
use children as your targets.
And then to try and destroy character of Moses Carter, a dead man. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Why don't you be a man and answer some of the questions that were posed at you and not
use other people to spread your filth. You are an evil person Garry Tyson and it now shows how
low you will go to hang onto a job
YEA WHATEVER LARRY HARDY YOU CRAZY
Too bad Im not Garry Tyson. Im a member who has laid back and watched all this hell and havoc going around in this church and frankly Im sick and tired of it! You have done it with Reed. Baldwin, and Sampson. so why continue to do it with Tyson? Its getting ridiculous I must say.
Gary Wolfe? you must have taken my post too personal. Did i mention you and caused you tto delate the whole blog. I must have hit a sour note with you. So you automatically think its our pastor when IT clearly is somebody else.
and yes Moses Carter is dead. However, his truth needs to be exposed. All these trustees need to be exposed for stealing money. The money that Pastor Tyson cant and doesnt have access too. But you can continue to slander all you want. Its only makingg you look stupid.
Just to let you know I emailed Gary Wolfe and asked him to begin the blog all over again and forward all the posts to me.
Everything that was posted is being sent to the lawyers, involved in the 2 new lawsuits and possible a third after yesterdays post.
They will also be sent to the IRS and the Secretary of State for Washington.
Everything that was posted about Garry Tyson was the truth, you chose to take a new path with your attacks and now you will pay
I just wanted to say that in a meeting held at Goodwill, December 15, 2008, Pastor Tyson asked anyone previously posting to this site to cease and desist any efforts of responding in his defense. There is a recorded transcript of that meeting. Perhaps some of the members in attendance had left before hearing his request, so they are still posting. It needs to be clear that the recent postings were not made at the request of any of the leadership at Goodwill. I hope that this will also be sent to whomever Marsha is in touch with for the sake of fairness.
You got to love it... Im turning my plate down for you and praying God's mercies over your life you are a very misguided individual and know God didn't lead you to say the things you said.. you talk about people who have passed on and innocent children. The problem with you is you've been laid back watching instead of laid back praying one thing i know is true every word you've sown you are going to have to give account for it! Thank you Mr. Wolfe for removing ignorance of this person. Ygtli Were praying for you.
Got to love it Your angry, or reckless, or critical words are bullets - and it's all too easy to pull that trigger. In fact, it takes the help of God and our personal discipline to keep from firing off a round of wounding words. But once you pull that trigger, there's no way to get that round back. Long after you've forgotten what you said, that person is still feeling the hurt of it, still hearing it over and over again in their heart. The words take a moment; the wounds can last for years. Be Praying instead of laying back and talking. God Bless
Marcell Tyson
The information was not deleted, just archived. The comments that you made about the innocent members of your church was sick, and sickness needs to be cured.
You and your Dad are the ones who need some serious prayer. To try and hurt people who have done nothing to you is wrong. They're not the ones who have been adding to this blog, certainly not Moses Carter - he's dead.
I suggest you do what your DAD say and not continue to defend him in this blog - it's too late for that - you went too far.
one last thing to you Gtli If in fact if all this havov was in GMBC before your pastor came why would you stay in such spiritual dysfunction? Why would you Lay back as you stated? And if you felt Deacon Carter and Deacon Long was stealing money (i Will NEVER Believe)so you claim why wait until all this mess before you said anything Im sure you had ample opportunities to discuss this in previous business meetings before garry ever came to Goodwill whats your motivation now? yes people are human but to keep hurting people in church by the Leader that is a problem. The bible speaks to being in a position to judge when it comes to your covering in leadership who's leading you i wont tell you where maybe this will be a great opportunity to study your bible blow the dust off and get down to basics. Love you with the love of Christ.
Mr Wolfe My name is Marcell Mitchell im not affiliated with the tysons and my Grandfather was Rev Mitchell
And Mr Wolfe, just so I'm clear i was responding to You got to love it...
Marsha. You say that everything that is posted on here will be posted and given to the IRS and to the Secretary of State. Ok! But what you fail to think about is we can do the exact thing about you slandering Bishop. The thing is what was posted was about people otther than Bishop. When the finger's pointed at you I guess yall cant take it. If you cant stand the heat, get out the kitchen!
And Marsha can you please send me those facts that you were talkinhg about?
Oh and the IRS will prove everything wrong about the stealing once there is an audit done at the church. The truth will come out and then you stubborn people will see the truth.
Oh and Marcell...
What I did is exactly the same thing as what Gary Wolfe did. How dare you call me misguided. Actually i will say that I am misguided in things but this one situation i know im not. But like i said before, YES Moses Carter is dead. We all know that. Its not wrong to talk about the dead because we talk about the living. Did you ever think about that?
This is from another blog. How true it is.
Accountability is very impportant. What kind of meesage are we sending to our child, if we do not hold people accountable for their actions?
Let's take Gary Tyson for instance, he came to Seattle with nothing, not even a pot to piss in, yet he is now leasing a $800,000 house a driving a luxary cars.
Gary has been at Goodwill Baptist church(which has been around for 63 years)going on 5 years and has practically drained the church dry. Getting rid of the entire trustee board and those on the deacon board who were against his shady dealings.
Gary has brought ministers to the church who were convicted of child molestation, one minister was accused of choking a member of his congregation during a business meeting.
Ministers like Gary, Tony, Braxton, Edward Donaldson and many others need to be removed. Our children need to know that ministers who were truly called by God should not be borrowing money from members and not paying them back, dividing a church, taking from the church, and walking around with more with suga in their tank.
What happened to being a leader, someone children can look up too? We are at fault, we invite these ministers to our church to speak at our men's day program, youth musical etc. We have to stop supporting these people and hold them accountable. Enough is Enough. Stop with the lies and the manipulation.
Gary is currently in court instead of him leaving he will fight, because he is not paying for the attorney the church is. he would love to see the Goodwill's doors to be closed then to walk away like a real man. Gary is not a real man he is coward who hides behind former drug dealers, addicts and fornicators. He would rather them to do his dirty work.
The members that started Goodwill, I am sure they are rolling in their graves. All their hard work and dedication is in the hands of hustler.
Goodwill Baptist Church read this
False teaching. In Jude 3b, the Bible says "... I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints." God's people must "contend" for the faith clearly revealed in the Bible. When God's church ceases to teach/preach faithfully the Bible, it loses the anointing of God and all spiritual authority. It's expected that well-meaning believers may have minor points of difference in interpreting God's Word. That's not the point. When the pastor and Sunday School teachers distort the obvious meaning of the Word for some preferred idea, they must be confronted. If they will not repent and return to God's Word, get out (2 John 9-11).
Unaddressed sin. If there is open sin, especially among the pastors, the church is in danger. If the pastors are the offenders, then deacons or other mature leaders in the church must confront them and call them to repentance (1 Timothy 5:19-20). God's blessing will not last for long on the church that will not confront open, unrepentant sin. If the church leaders will not confront the sin, you should shake the dust off your shoes as you go out the door.
Dysfunctional church life. As with families, churches can become dysfunctional. Sadly, the landscape of American church life is littered with people meeting in church-type buildings that long ago ceased to be church. When the vision dies, the agenda degrades to how we pay the bills, what we need to do to keep people happy, or arguing over who's in charge of the operation. In this state, God's church usually divides into little "fiefdoms" with people fighting over control and power. It's ugly. A church almost never recovers from this point.
It's a sad state of affairs when a so-called Pastor gets up in church and tells his henchmen to put someone out of church. It's even sadder when Deacons jump up like puppets to do his dirty work. It's amazing that these men would put their own future in jeopardy to please this man. Like the Deacon (Leo White) who pushed the secretary away from the church after the Deacons were told to fire her. And then called the police and told them they were expecting some trouble - Five men and one old lady - now who was in danger of being in trouble.
The police have been at Goodwill more than once. Eddie McDonald calls them everytime Tyson gives him the nod and it's usually when Tyson wants someone removed that he does not like.
He brags about being a regular on TBN's Praise the Lord television show but he doesn't want to be filmed in his own church - go figure. The reason for this is because of the trash he spews out over the pulpit before the recorder rolls for the Sunday broadcast. He doesn't want a recording of that garbage. And on Sunday he was mad about what transpired in the court on Friday and he was wound up and ready to blow.
God is not being worshipped at Goodwill anymore. Garry Tyson has brainwashed a few people into worshipping him. If you don't "bow down and worship" the great Garry Tyson he will have you put out and of course Eddie McDonald will call the police on you.
I remember a cool windy day, the hawk was out in the Emerald City and the rain tapped on the windows as if beckening for someone to open it. It was 1976 and I was a child peaking into the world with eyes of innocense and wonder.
The phone rang and my Grandma answered, I didn't move from her lap as she brushed my hair. "Hey Deacon", my Granny said to the person on the other end. "Why did he bring tha gun up n there, wez in the churh house?". The conversation continued as it usually did after a business meeting and she'd rushed me out of the room.
I can remember fights in the lobby area of Goodwill MBC, harsh words from the front by the person I later would understand to be the leader of the church - called pastor. People grawling and hissing from the pews as people prayed or spoke at the mic.
Women and men using language in the office next to the main office, that I would hear if my Grandpa had a few to many sips or lost the house payment in a poker hand. Or if I walked real slow by Bryan Manor on 19th and Yesler on my to choir rehersal. Those street walker's could sure belt out an "offering call".
As a child, I understood, this place where praise dripped from the lips when the music or a whoop bellowed in just the right pitch. These same lips could be heard whispering the secret sin of a fellow member with hatred and fanged teeth - they called this the church or church family.
The spiritual warfare each of you share on this site occurred in the 70's, at Goodwill, all over this land and until this day. Read the transcript of the previous Goodwill court case(s) and the old business meeting minutes, "who is the wise amoung you?" You will find the same events, word for word.
I've healed from, asked for forgiveness of and learned the true meaning of a relationship with our Father since my years at Goodwill. It was because I did not want to be like so many, sitting on the egde of life wondering why "he brought a gun to church", "tippin & crippin", lies of "church business", "confused by the "lack if protection" of the women & children in the church" or "empty on the inside". See the environment we are exposed to can bring about a change in life - "What and Who shall birth your change?"
As I type these few lines, I know that my time at Goodwill was for right now and this second. I had to tell this story - I have a few more, it's book time!
Love ya
WWJD...So Whats your point?
WWJD...I think your point maybe there needs to be prayer and fasting before a pastor is chosen and not so quick to pick anybody that looks good on paper or in this case who responds to the position via internet without looking into they're background. And most importantly being lead by GOD!!!!! I will say this God is not in this mess!!!!!!!
WWJD
If you're going to tell the story, tell it all. I don't think you're old enough to tell it from 1946 but I was there in 1948 and I remember the good times.
Goodwill was built on the vision on folks who all came from the same background. They grew up in the south, not much education and not much income.
I can remember my Mother and Dad putting 25¢ to $1.00 in the offering every Sunday. I didn't understand then how they could do that when their kids had cardboard in their shoes to cover up the holes - I understand it now.
I didn't understand how they could invite the preacher over to the house for dinner and they ate fried chicken but the kids only got to eat beans and cornbread - I understand it now.
I didn't understand how my mom could bake a cake to take to the church for a bake sale and all we got to do was lick the bowl - I understand it now.
I didn't understand why Deacons would put their own homes up for collateral to purchase a larger church - I understand it now.
What I don't understand is how a church with such a rich history (1946 - 1969) continues to find it's self ruled by leaders who are only interested in what they can get out of the church - money and power.
You need to take a look at the leadership of the church. The ones who allow these men, who say they are called by God, to come in and take over a church and turn the members against one another for their own benefit.
Everybody wants to bring up the "bad" history because it's juicy, but no one wants to take a look at the good history. No one wants to tell the real story of the so called leaders who have brought the church to this state.
Goodwill used to be called "Holy Ghost Headquarters". You were lucky to find a seat in the sanctuary on Sunday. Sunday School was packed, 3 o'clock services were the place to be, BTU was a true learning experience and 7 PM service was the culmination of a fantastic day at the "Will".
You mentioned the person with the gun, but you failed to mention the Pastor that had a gun and a knife in his office desk. You failed to mention the Pastor who just about cleaned out the churches bank account. Who also borrowed money from some of the members. One member who almost lost their home after taking out a loan on it.
You failed to mention the Pastor who gathered every member who has a felony record to be part of his army. An army that spewed hate througout the church and will attack any person who is not part of them.
Take a look at them. They all came from small churches with small salaries.
Most of them had very little formal "accredited college" education.
Most of them had financial problems.
Most of them had no other work experience that they could go back to.
Most could not return to their former cities because they burned those bridges.
Are the members innocent - NO.
We sit closed mouthed and let things get to the point where frustration overcomes our senses. Then we blow. We scream, we yell, we vent, we stop coming to service, and we withhold our tithes and offering.
And that's the only thing the community sees. They're not interested in the whole story, they're only interested in the "Jerry Springer" part. They haven't heard about the hurt and the tears. They haven't seen the membership dwindle down from 900 to less than a hundred members. They haven't seen the police called to the church anytime the Pastor doesn't get his way. They haven't seen members used and abused, some hurt so bad they can't come back to the church.
Go ahead and write your book. What you tell will say a lot about your integrity
Maythe Lord God bless Gary L.Tyson and his family real GOOD, may he keep him in perfect peace. May peace abide in the hearts of the people of Goodwill MBC as well.
May LOVE,FORGIVENESS,PEACE AND FAITH ABIDE IN THE HEARTS OF
GOD'S PEOPLE. There is a spirit walking to and fro in the earth seeking whom it may devour. I pray that the people of goodwill will
stop blaming Bishop Tyson for all of their troubles and using him as an excuse for ungodly behavior.
Pastor Mitchell is dead and is not coming back, and all of the charter members are with him. It is (2009)the hands of time is not going backwards. Nothing is the way it used to be. Take a look in a MIRROR neither are YOU. So stop acting like Goodwill is supposed to stay stuck in a time Worp. Change YOURSELF. Get another MIRROR
and take a good look at SELF, ask what GOD can do with ME in this life. Stop Demanding that others change and put that demand where you can make a difference, SELF.
RE: The previous post...
How blind are you? I'm unaware of ANYONE blaming Tyson for their personal problems. The current church division is a DIRECT result of Tyson's actions.
Godly??? Tyson is not a Godly man and it shows in the way he disrespects his elders and other members.
I wonder if YOU were in church Sunday, snapping your fingers and bobbing your head as a young girl, performed Beyonce's "Single Ladies" and a GROWN man sang Ray Charles' "You know the night time, is the right time to be with the one you love". Tell me, where was GOD in that???
Also let me clarify, the references made to departed Dr. Mitchell and the Charter Members is a testament of "faith" and GOODWILL was previously known as a church with GODLY people acting in the will of GOD.
I noticed you began your post with a prayer, added some veiled insults and ended with finger pointing. All of your actions are indicative of your TYSON training. So I guess you received your B.A./M.A./Ph.d from Brevard Christian University as well...
I encourage you to become a part of the solution but please do not contribute to the problem. I could close with scripture but instead, let me say this...It will all come out in the wash!
"And they nailed Him to the cross"...I now know He went willingly for you and I. That's WWJD. STOP, READ this BLOG from the being and then go straight to the WORD of God. Which one can heal.. Sorry, I should be very, very clear - go the the WORD of God. The next response in this BLOD, shall let everyone know if it is of God, from God and about God.
So, Anthony Obey of New Life Baptist Church in Lacy is getting his reward from Tyson for coming down to Goodwill and helping Tyson get away with his evil doings.
I guess you don't have to be ethical to become a Bishop. Just as long as you lower yourself to a level even with the devil you qualify.
Check out the preachers who are part of that Fellowship. You'll find out some things that will make you sick.
Listen,
If those of you who are commenting on the conduct of this man of God, you need to reaize one thing first. He is still a MAN OF GOD. Now, whether or not he is acting like he should in the eyesight of God is nobody's business. So instead of bad mouthing him, and talking so negative, you need to pray before you put your mouth on this man and his family. God is the one who will deal with him accordingly. Bishop Tyson is the only one who will have to answer for his actions for or aginst the people of God. So remember you dont have a hell to put him in or a hell to take him out of. Just pray and watch what God is going to do. I know for a fact that all of us have a past, present and a future. The only amazing thing about that is, you can't change the past, you need to concentrate on your present and celebrate the future. What has happened in the past, is just what it is. IT'S THE PAST. Whatever the case is with the church, instead of talking so much, start doing some serious praying and watch what God will do.
Obviously you don't know a "man of God" when you see one.
Do you remember the story about the lady who took the snake in and when it bit her the snake said "You knew I was a snake when you took me in".
Tyson hid his scales behind lies when Goodwill hired him. Those scales begin to show themselves not long after he took the job.
He has had almost 2 years to correct the problems at the church but he continues to prey upon weak minded people to do his dirty deeds.
Everything that has happened at the church since the night of March 7, 2008 has been orchestrated by him. He gets people like Indiana Allen, Linda Willis, Angela Watson, James Woodard and others to stand in the meetings like puppets and speak what he tells them to while he claims he had nothing to do with any of it.
Tyson didn't preach one Sunday in the month of April at Goodwill - not one and he hasn't preached the last 3 Sunday's there either. Now on what job can you do nothing for a whole month and still get paid?
You talk about forgetting the past, there is no past with Tyson. The problems continue today and unless Tyson grows up and acts like a real man and not a spoiled brat he is, Goodwill will never heal.
Maybe you should talk with some of the members Garry and Nicole have hurt. Instead of caring about this snake slinking around in Bishops clothing.
It's sad.
You people who keep supporting these so called "Men of God" like Tyson who prey on churches are why they keep proliferating.
God may have called him, but the Devil got hold of him and turned him into what he is now.
I agree with the above.
Look how many churches in Seattle area alone have failed or are broke because of poor leadership. Of course, there are Deacons and Trustees in these churches but these false prophets know how to manipulate these people with smooth talk and by twisting words from the bible.
I remember one Pastor who tried to convince the members of his church that he should be given a "Heave Offering" and explained that it meant that that he should receive 10% of the tithes of offering taken every week. This was above and beyond his regular salary. It was a good thing that there were some bible reading members in the congregation. That ploy did not work.
One Pastor who spent almost 2 months away from his church in a year and then at the end of the year asked for 2 weeks vacation pay because he said he did not go on vacation. Scam.
One Pastor who had his car window broken out at the church. He called the police and told them that nothing was stolen from the car but later went to his Deacons and asked them to turn in a claim to the churches insurance. He said the claim was for a lot of expensive items that were stolen from his car. Fraud.
I could go on and on but I think you know where I'm coming from.
i do realize and am cognisant of the fact that there are some pastors that do not live according to the WHOLE word of God. It's sad that these pastors are doing some of the things that they are doing, but, we as the people of God have a mandate on our lives to pray without ceasing. I understand the whole administrative side of the house and I do know that the deacons, trustees and other church officials are the ones that handle that part of it, but, we need to pray and stop doing so much talking to everybody else. Talk to the Lord and watch what He will do. Whether or not Bishop Tyson is removed from the pastorate of Goodwill, is dependant upon the last say-so of the one and only chief of staff and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. Start praying and seeking the face of God in this situation and God is going to do what he has to do on His side of it.
The one thing that bothers me is that so-called Christians always sit back and say "we'll let God handle it."
It's true that God will take care of things but it's amazing to think that he would not give us the ability to
think through problems and take the proper steps to handle them ourselves.
God doesn't make stupid people. We all have the ability to think, but some use those abilities to hurt others.
When others see the hurting that's going on, they close their eyes and ignore it. They say "God I'm too weak and
immature to open my mouth and take care of this so I'll just hide in the closet and let you handle it"
That's not a Christian attitude.
That's why these so called leaders take advantage of "church folk" because they know they are hiding
in the closet.
We see churches closing all around us. We see a falling away from organized religion. We see members giving their
last dollar to these pulpit pimps so they can ride around in fancy cars, live in luxurious homes and dress in fancy suits.
When a church only brings in $15,000 a month and the Pastor is getting almost $5,000 of that in salary and benefits, something is wrong.
The salary keeps rising the the tithes and offering keeps going down. The salary keeps rising and the membership keeps falling. The salary keeps rising
and the Pastor spends more and more time away from the church.
Is God going to do something about that if we pray?
The brain that God gave me has already figured out what needs to happen. I don't need to bother Him praying about it. He has a lot of other things to take care of.
first of all, you shouldn't be up on here talking about "so-called" christians because nine times out of ten YOU are the same "so-called" christian that is falling for this same crap that these dumb pastors are giving to you. A real christian knows how to pray and do less talking. I mean, still handle business like you are supposed to in the church, but stop trying to tear down somebody for a fault they have. For lack of better terms, just leave the nigga alone! We as the called of God need to handle things better than this. This kind of behavior is ridiculous and those of you that are sitting up on here saying all this dumb stuff about "church folk", "so-called christians", and "pulpit pimps" need to shut up and shut in! Aint nobody hiding in no closet! Those of us who are real in life as well as real for God need to stop letting these dumb people on this blog say stupid stuff. We need to pray as we should and also administratively handle business. Those of you who disagree with what I am saying, oh well, i really don't care. Get your life right then you can talk about somebody else.
Goodwill Members, read this.
Your church will never recover from this unless you take a serious look at your leadership, especially your Deacons. Pastors will continue to take advantage of you because your Deacons are not men of God. These preachers who sign up to be your Pastor realize that they are dealing with weak minded leadership and they destroy your church. It keeps happening over and over again.
Leadership is such a vital role to be taken in the Church. We have deacons in places where they should not be. Leaders need to be considerably careful, as they are the men that will lead us down one path or the other (the straight or broad & wide Matthew 7:13-14).
One problem that seems to plague Church leadership is that there are many in that position that do not meet the Scriptural guidelines of the New Testament. Many are not apt to teach for they have not the knowledge; some have been victims of divorce and broken homes.
Deacons need to be leaders that will protect the Church! That is their God given responsibility. There are congregations that want to have an leaders so badly that they appoint unqualified men to hold that office. This is not a cure; it is the exact opposite. It causes the men who take that office to sin, and those who worship with them to sin.
Deacons need to recognize that they will answer for the actions of the flock. (Hebrews 13:17) “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”
Bad leadership hinders growth because the Church ceases to be biblically centered. We have seen it happen many times. A good deacon or even in more cases preachers begin to fall and the followers follow. A preacher will get up and make a statement that is inaccurate to the New Testament, and being ignorant to the word people will follow.
How can we identify bad leadership? First of all leaders are followers just as non-leaders are. We are all subject unto Christ whom is the head of the Body the Church (Ephesians 1:22-23 and Matthew 28:18). Therefore, one sure way to identify bad leadership is to know that they are not following Christ. We can know bad leaders because they do not heed to Christ therefore they become blind and lead the sheep into the ditch. (Matthew 15:12-14)
Let us all study, continue to grow in knowledge, and we will prevent the Church from having bad leadership. Bad leadership will hinder spiritual growth! We need to change our lack of leaders into men whom desire the office of an deacon, and study their way to the knowledge required living their lives as a light unto this presently dark world.
seattle would be a better place without this money and power hungry man!
I have never experienced before what went on in Goodwill yesterday. Sunday is supposed to be a day to glorify God but Garry Tyson turned it into a day of horror. His sermon was about murder and mayhem. In the past he has advised the members to arm themselves on his behalf and this was just anther attempt to bring distruction to Goodwill.
He is determined to hang onto that job no matter what it takes.
If those that are supporting him haven't had their eyes opened yet I don't know what it will take.
Their church is in jeopardy. It will shut down just like New Covenant.
What sadden me was to see mothers in the church upset, about the mayhem going on around them.
Gary L Tyson did not care, he started the mess and jetted out the door, but what was really sad is that he left others to do his dirty work.
I have been praying for Goodwill members to open their eyes and to take action. Enough is Enough.
God is not please with what went on Sunday.
Why stay somewhere when the people don't want you? Is that he has no where to go.
Maybe the doors of Goodwill should be closed. If he doesn't have a place to go then maybe he will leave.
There is so much evil in Garry Tyson. He doesn't care anything about Goodwill or the people in it. He just cares about the almighty $$$$$$$$$$$.
I'm so afraid that he's going to cause someone to get hurt badly. Of course he won't do it, he'll have one of the felons that he runs with do it.
He's just like a gang leader, sit back and sends out his pack of hoodlums to get his revenge.
He ran to his office on Sunday after he spread his vile garbage. He's a coward, a phony pimp preacher coward.
The dictatorial preacher is a self-centered man who caters to his worldly desires under the guise of true religion and feeds his own ego instead of his flock, thus negating by his way of life the central Christian principle of self-denial, Luke 9:23.
It's time for Baptists to speak up and renounce such unspiritual and anti-scriptural tactics, and to let it be known that we respect the freedom, individuality and Christian liberty of those who affiliate with our churches.
You're so right about Tyson being self-centered.
He didn't leave Florida because God called him to Seattle. He left running from bill collectors, home foreclosure, and owing money to people all over the US.
He had pissed over so many people he couldn't remain there any longer.
Even here in Seattle he has had bill collectors chasing him all over the area, he's borrowed money from people and almost got into a fight in the church with someone he owed money to.
This man is beyond evil. He is the devil's spawn.
This is insane. You spent so much of your time and effort judging our leaders. You do all this research and do background checks but it only seems to be on the people you dont like.
Me being an older genlteman who has a relationship with the younger generation, I have a tendancy to hear these things from the source.
Did you know that you have placed a child pedifile in office as a trustee. EJ BURKE was sleeping with a minor while he was yet grown. Im not talking 17 going on 18. Its more like 15 going on 16. Did you know that? No because thats not a real big problem to you!
Just get to know everybody who has problems not just the people you dont like. Because Goodwill is to small and everybody knows your business.
This is a typical comment from one one Tyson's brainwashed groupies.
Maybe you should look at his Deacon Board.
Leo White is well known by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
He's been charged with Sexual Assualt, Dangerous Drugs, Weapon Offenses. Over 7 felony convictions.
Another Deacon has been in prison on drug charges.
Another Deacon is on his 3rd wife.
One lady who constantly speaks up for Tyson has been in prison for killing a woman.
One of his Ministers has been in prison for drugs.
It's interesting that you wait until you saw EJ, who by the way hasn't been brainwashed, speaking up in church. Now you want to dig into your Tyson garbage can and try to destroy this young man and drive him away from the church.
Of course, that's what Tyson would want you to do so I guess you're just being yourself.
LOL!!! It was Elijah WASHINGTON sleeping or attempting to sleep with young girls! This is obviously an attempt on behalf of Gary or his cronies to slander EJ's name because he has become involved as a Trustee. Oh yeah, Nate likes them young too and his OLD wife is a cover for all the club creeping he does on the side. As an appointed Deacon, I would expect a better choice.
If that were true, how could YOU, as an adult, stand by and allow a young girl to be victimized? Keeping secrets is how we arrived at this point because the Trustees hid all of Gary's crap from the body. Gary should include the part about calling up to Seattle for money to feed his family during their $16,000.00 move. The head of a household doesn't have money to feed his family? This is our elected leadership?
The bottom line is...Goodwill is BROKE. There is not enough revenue coming in to maintain our monthly bills. This information was disclosed at the Nov and Dec business meetings. That is the reason the Trustees did not extend Gary a contract. The loan on the Medina building is due in Nov 2010 and it is over $500,000.00. We can't refinance because there is NO money or property to use as collateral. It had nothing to do with SPITE and everything to do with SPENDING.
So this is BIGGER than folks dislike of Gary and Lucinda Tyson. This is about uniting to save souls AND save our church. However, this will not be accomplished under the current leadership.
I understand that folks who left with Baldwin or Sampson (and currently supporting Tyson) are tired of being the ones to leave, but they had Goodwill to come back to!
If we can't pay that loan in November, the two lots used as collateral will be lost along with the Medina building.
Folks are fighting over Goodwill not realizing that people who NEED to come to our church will be hurt if it shuts down.
If Gary can increase the "spirit of giving" to benefit the church finances and facilitate healing...then he BELONGS at Goodwill.
Oh yeah, the correct spelling is "pedophile".
You really need to look at the last 5 years under Gary's leadership at Goodwill. I've been a member there for over 40 years and I have never seen anything like this.
Even under Sampson's leadership we were never on the point of bankruptcy.
With all the hate that is spewing out at Goodwill now there is no way it will recover in time to prevent losing the Medina Building and the two parking lots.
It's a sad legacy for Dr. Norman Mitchell and the charter members. To see everything they worked for destroyed by Gary and his band of misfits.
I have decided not to return to Goodwill. There is just too much hate there now. I have been paying my tithes faithfully for years and should have been paying more attention to the financial statements.
I am one of those who did not attend the business meetings and now I am sorry I didn't.
I had no idea they were missappropriating the funds.
This is an prime example of poor leadership in a church.
I too will not be returning to GMBC. What's so sad is that people can get on here an TRY to make others pay attention to nonsense instead of what's really going on.
GMBC has no money and now the trustees had to issue a contract to a man who is not a leader, but most importantly the church can not afford him.
what is going to happen to the church when we can not pay him his salary? I urge those that are willing to stay and put up with this nonsense to please pay close attention to the finances. The treaurer has taken money from the scholarship fund to to help pay bills, she did not get permission to do so.
GMBC I am praying for your deliverance and I hope you will survive.
God Bless and I wish you well
Ditto
I won't give any more of my money to support Garry's extravagant lifestyle.
He'll let Goodwill go broke before he gives up that job.
The Goodwill Church Body is not without fault. The Ministers in the pulpit, the deacons, the mothers, ushers, choir members, trustees and members saw that what Tyson was doing was wrong, but you didn't do anything to stop him! Especially the Ministers, you all are much older and supposed to be seasoned saints. Are you all so afraid of him that you would compromise your own convictions and not teach him what is right? He will never learn because you let him do; so he says well it's o.k. with them and he continues doing what you know is wrong. Our young people see and hear all of this dysfunctional mess and think that is the way church business is supposed be. It is not and GOD is not pleased with any of you! Goodwill is and will always be a family and community church, not this so-called five star mega church! You let Tyson come in and let him spew his big grand plan for "the church" and you all fell for it hook, line, and sinker! You saw dollar signs, big cars, fancy clothes, television appearances, movie spectaculars, Vegas glamour, and you lost the main reason you wanted a "Shepperd". One that was going to help you heal and have a improved relationship with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Yet you let him talk down to you, dismiss the senior saints, speak to some and not others, not participate and learn the history of your church traditions. Nicole telling you that you are robbing God if you don't give this amount or do this and that. Don't you get tired of being "bullied" every Sunday from the pulpit about what you are doing to disrespect God when he and his own family are flaunting the very thing he tells you not to do right in your faces? God is spanking your very back sides because you have disobeyed his Word and turned your backs on him. So this is your punishment! I hope that you all can come together, humble yourselves, stop bringing mess into the Lord's house, admit that all of you made mistakes, wipe the slate clean, ask God to have mercy, and get back to making your church - Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church - the family and community place of peace, love, fellowship, and most of all a place where people can praise, fellowship and worship the Lord! I know that you all can do this. I have faith! We need you Goodwill. You are family and we don't want to lose you!!!! You have come to far to give Satan the victory.
We have gone from stating facts of Garry Tyson into slander of innocent people. I am totally baffled by the man who stated he works with the youth of the church, knew that a young girl was being sexually abused by an older person, and did not say anything? To call a person a pedophile and not produce any truth to the statement is slander. You are just as guilty if you knew something was going on & said nothing! Your character must now be called into question, and what you say will not be taken as truth! EJ has been a faithful member of Goodwill well before Garry and Nicole came on the scene, that is FACT!!!
What people fail to realize is that no one hates Garry & Nicole, but we do hate what has been allowed to take place at Goodwill. Garry & his crew got rid of the Trustees and some of the older deacons on March 7, 2008..Garry has bragged about how he is a wonderful leader, and how he did not need those other people in certain positions to have our church run smoothly. During that year he had full rain over the church, the leadership, and the finances, look where we are....BROKE!! That to me does not show effective leadership..Look at our church body, torn apart at the seams, that does not show effective leadership! Look at our youth, oh wait, we barely have any!!! That does not show effective leadership!!!
I was one of the people who loved my pastor & first lady in the beginning, but as they say "the love of money is the root of all evil"..When the evil began to rear its ugly head, I could no longer look to Garry & Nicole as the humble people who first got here. Instead, I looked at them as two people who were only out for themselves, and could care less who got hurt in the long run.
For all of you that are "followers" of the Tysons, be careful because God said "I will have no other Gods before me"(Exodus 20:3)
It's a shame it had to come to this..It is a shame that God's house & God's pulpit is being desecrated every Sunday. It is a shame that our youth are vanishing each Sunday & there is no GMBC of the future. It is a shame that the congregation can't even come together in love because their pastor does not want them to.
All I know is this "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Galations 6:7)
Garry & Nicole, it's harvest time!!!
Jeremiah 23:1-4,
“What sorrow awaits the leaders of my people—the shepherds of my sheep—for they have destroyed and scattered the very ones they were expected to care for,” says the Lord.
2 Therefore, this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to these shepherds: “Instead of caring for my flock and leading them to safety, you have deserted them and driven them to destruction. Now I will pour out judgment on you for the evil you have done to them. 3 But I will gather together the remnant of my flock from the countries where I have driven them. I will bring them back to their own sheepfold, and they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 Then I will appoint responsible shepherds who will care for them, and they will never be afraid again. Not a single one will be lost or missing. I, the Lord have spoken!
Garry & Nicole, the blood is on your hands! It is time to make a change before it is too late. God did not bring Goodwill 65+ years to be destroyed by you & the people that worship you! I honestly feel sorry for you and what you have done. Although, I have no heaven or hell to put you in, God does, and he is clear in his words of the consequences and repercussions of destroying or trying to destroy his people and his church.May God have mercy!!!
It's too bad that Goodwill keeps making the same bad decisions when it comes to choosing a Pastor. There has to be a Godly man out there for them.
I will continue to pray that this man doesn't completely destroy the church. I have never seen it in such bad shape, spiritually and physically.
If Garry is a true man of God he would not put this church through the turmoil it's going through.
He is only think of one thing MONEY, MONEY AND MORE MONEY. He wants the doors of the church to close and to lose the property.
What a sad day and I know the founder and charter members of the church is rolling in their graves
So now the congregation is being strong armed into paying Garry Tyson? Yesterday was a complete mess once again at the hands of the deacon board. I am tired of hearing about Garry, let's now speak on the so called "deacon" board who have allowed Garry full reign over Goodwill no matter what the cost. The "deacon" board are supposed to be spiritual leaders of the church. Why are they having so much say in the financial lately? It is obvious that they have no financial understanding on how the church is run. During the year there were no trustees at Goodwill, they had full rein along with Garry Tyson and Beverly Bell over the financial aspects of the church, and now look, we are BROKE! Furthermore, a deacon board should be worried about the spiritual well being of the church, yet they are more concerned of "taking care of the pastor" than they are about the current division in our church. Shame on them, and as a previous person has stated on this blog, Garry & Nicole will have to reap their harvest,, and anyone associated with them will have to as well. God don't like ugly, and right now it is extremely ugly at Goodwill. Also, one of the new members of Goodwill (only joined a couple of Sunday's ago) stood up and said "if you don't like this man of God (referring to Garry) then you can leave!!! Now, in knowing who her family is (who has left Goodwill a couple of times following after previous pastors)and for some reason have came back to Goodwill, isn't it obvious that Goodwill has done no wrong? I am tired of people trying to tell the faithful members who have served many years in Goodwill they can leave. Let me just say, the cult that Garry has established for himself cannot financially sustain him, and he knows it. He would love to take Goodwill all the way under and not care what happens to it. Sad situation, but we all know God has the final say in this matter.....
Yes I do agree what transpired yesterday was a mess, but one must look at the handwriting on the wall. Gary is going to get his money voluntary or involuntary it doesn't matter to him. If it means that the loan is not paid or the lights turned or even rats and roaches running around there, he does not care.
"What profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?" Gary has sold his soul to the devil. Keep in mind people GMBC is a building the people is the church. People are going to do what they want to do in order to serve and protect this man. To some Garry is their god, he strokes their ego, he puts them in positions they do not deserve i.e. Angela over the kitchen damn she can't cook. He has ministers sitting on the roster and they should not be there i.e. Michael Wright, still drinking, smoking crack and chasing skirts all over town. Elijah Washington chasing young girls in the church and he is married.
I don't want to even talk about the deacon board, a bunch of dumb idiots (enough said). People move on with your life and let God handle it. You have done all that you can do. Garry (Jim Jones) has to deal with God. When the church default on the loan, I betcha they will be crying the blues and asking for help.
I left GMBC about 6 months ago and the sad thing about it is things have gotten worst. Mark my word somebody is going to get hurt and we do not want that to happen, but Garry is a vicious man and he has plenty of people to do his dirty work so that his hands remain clean i.e. stealing checks, taking money from the benevolent fund.
Yeah I know about all that and I haven't been there in 6 months, it's all over town. I say CLOSE THE DOORS! GMBC is not going to be able to pay any bills. I give it a couple of weeks, because people have already stopped paying offering etc after yesterday more people will stop.
Good Luck GMBC I am praying for those who are true believers will see the light and leave.
I look at the other churches around town where the members were stupid enough to put their trust in a man instead of God.
They have now lost their churches.
Goodwill you are also headed in the same direction. Garry has been all over town laughing at the membership. Telling his other Pastor cronies how stupid you are and how he won't leave as long as there is one bit of property left.
You are about to lose the Medina Building and your two parking lots because you will not be able to pay the note when it becomes due later this year. He also wants you to sell the lot next to your church so he can continue to get his $100,000 salary.
How stupid can you be?
This man would rather see you on the street because that is what he is used to: Evictions, garnishments, and lawsuits.
The writing is on the wall.
You're letting people like Indiana Allen (church hopper), James Woodard (stupid), Angela Watson (broke church hopper) , Lynda Willis (murderer), Eddie McDonald (adulterer), Leo White (convicted of multiple felonies), Nathan Thomas (3 wives) bring your church down.
I myself will not put another dime into this church. I will give my tithes to the people of Haiti and any other organization that is about something other than worshipping a devil.
I have been following this blog since it was put up. I am a former member of Goodwill but left during the Sampson reign.
I won't speak ill of the dead but it does not seem that you have done much better with this Pastor.
I had hopes of returning after attending a few services early on in his Pastorship.
It was a perception of mine that something was not right. He seemed too caught up in himself. A lot of bragging and talking nonsense from the pulpit. Sermons that didn't make a lot of sense. It didn't appear that he spent much time preparing.
His wife got up to brag about things that people were giving her and then admonishing the members to bless the Pastor. (I guess that meant to give him money).
She was dressed like she was heading to the club with a short dress with too much breast showing and stilleto heals with fishnet hose.
It was all too worldy for me.
Goodwill I feel for you. This Pastor brought the world into your church and the world is going to take it away.
A Brainwashed Christian:
The first thing I think we need to agree on is that you can be a Pastor, Elder, Teacher, Deacon, etc, or just attend a Church, Tabernacle, or any of those names you want to apply to your building or your group of worshippers to learn more about God's word, and participate in any way you can to further those teachings in your world, and you can be brainwashed and totally wrong about what scripture teaches in the Bible. If you don't believe that then you missed all those verses about false teachers in the Bible. If you listen to false teachers, and you're convinced what they're teaching is truth, then you're brainwashed.
You can continue your whole life believing in God's word, believing you know what scripture means to whatever the extent of your learning has been, and most of what you know can be wrong. It's wrong because your teachers had no discernment of the truth of God's word, and you didn't either.
But the way to make sure you break out of any false teachings, is to appeal to God for the truth. GOD IS TRUTH, but it still depends on the desires of your heart whether he enlightens you to any of his word or not. We can argue about God's word till the cows come home, but unless God himself gives you discernment, all we'll be doing is disagreeing on what God's word says. You must have a desire for truth, regardless of whatever the truth is. If the truth convicts you of sin, then so be it. If you don't particularly want other people to know a specific truth about yourself, and the truth comes out, you need to admit it, face it, and repent from it.
If it's easier to cover it up because it would create too much embarrassment, what do you do? Why should God give you discernment if truth is not of primary importance to you? For example, if you won't take that truth and stand up to the person that's spreading a false teaching just because he's your Pastor, Elder, or whatever position bestowed upon him, what good does it do for you to know it? If God gave you the truth, it was so you'd pass it on to the one who is incorrect. Being tactful is great if you're good at that. I'm not. Some people have a gift of eloquent speech. I don't. But I don't let such detractions stop me from making a point that needs to be made. Do you really think God wants people to teach his word incorrectly?
I'm not saying we need to know every scripture in the Bible by heart. We may even go too in depth on some things as it is, but all knowledge is relevant. However, what procedure does your Church have in place to weed out false teaching by members, Elders or the Pastor if the shoe fits? There is a scriptural procedure, to take the charge before the 'assembly', but to this day I've never set foot in a Church that follows it! Pastors and Elders want you to bring your concerns to them, in private. And I'm OK with that initially. But at some point, if the charge of false teaching is a serious issue, not just just some minor point, but a serious doctrinal issue, let's follow what scripture says to do how about it! After all, who is the assembly exactly? Just the Pastors and Elders? Or the members of the Church at large?
Goodwill
Your pastor can be wrong. He can be dead wrong, and he can even be wrong on purpose, and Christian's would be aghast any any such statement. Go read your Bible again and tell me it's not so. We have pastors that were selected by a 'handler' to deceive Christians, and they're not the least bit aware that they were specifically chosen, and their church was funded for that purpose. Specifically so they would deceive Christians. It's kind of like taking someone like Saul, as good as he was with God's law, or thought he was, and promoting him as a good pastor. Funding the building of his church. Advertising it. Not overdoing it, but enough to make it sustain itself, and hopefully one day bring in some wealthy Christians to help it grow because 'Saul' gives such a dynamic 'message'.
You know the message Saul teaches is patently wrong on some major doctrinal issues, but then, you're a Satan worshipper in disguise. What better way to destroy Christianity than to get them to do it to themselves. Less work for you, right! Besides, you can always claim you thought he had a truthful message. You can claim ignorance of his false teachings, just like everyone else that joined the church. Who knew? If they didn't know they were wrong, you can't really call them a shill. They might just be ignorant of God's word as Saul was. Knowing the word, but totally wrong about it just the same. The word might of been deliberately withheld from them.
You might of missed those scriptures too, but isn't that what happened with Mikal and the other priests? An Angel was sent with a lying spirit. Imagine..., God sending priests a lying spirit. Bet they don't teach about that in any churches. Might get people to start thinking and we wouldn't want that. We want to be the ones that they trust to do their thinking for them. We want to be the expert! That's a real problem today. People go to church for a couple of hours each week, and they must think they've fulfilled their responsibilities to God if they go, and do their best to follow God's law the rest of the week.
For The Record
The same issues that GMBC has with Pastor Tyson, Greater Bethlehem (DeLand, FL) experienced. It's mind-blowing to hear some of these comments, because it sounds IDENTICAL to the tactics he used here. Don't be surprised if the sermons become even more abusive. He used Seattle as his way out of the mess he created in DeLand (which ended up being a blessing for DeLand). He maybe preparing for his exodus. So, Be Encouraged!!
Dear Goodwill Church Family:
Being led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, walking together in Christian love, and being zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of God; we the undersigned, acting in good faith and in Christian spirit humbly and respectfully submit to you our resignation from the Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church Board of Trustees; effective today February 5, 2010.
The church was told today that the Trustee’s had reached an agreement with the Pastor. Many members took that to believe that the entire Trustee Board agreed to the Pastors contract and then we resigned; THAT IS NOT TRUE!
Tish Edmondson and Gerald Singeltary met with Jessie Wineberry and the Deacon Board on February 6, 2010 and Tish Edmondson signed the contract. Gerald Singeltary has been an inactive member of the Board of Trustees since he was elected. Deacon McDonald refused to correct the misperception and we had no other alternative but to share the whole truth, by whatever means necessary.
We have worked diligently and in good faith to try and do the job that we were elected to do. Act in the best interest of the church body, taking all necessary measures for its protection, management and maintenance. We are concerned with the fiscal health of our church and have grave concerns with the office of the Treasurer Office having been compromised.
There have been call meetings that have been conducted with information given to the body that was not truthful and misrepresented actions that the Trustee Board has taken. Members were not given credible information by which they could make informed decisions when called upon to vote on matters of critical financial consequences.
Goodwill, we caution you not to become a statistic. IRS regulation 7611 regarding churches will change in April or May of this year. Because of recent factors involving church finances, the IRS will audit this church. The church is out of compliance on many fronts. You need to protect your church assets.
The founders of this church sacrificed much to get it where it is today. We don't want to lose what they sacrificed to build.
We have listened to the church body and we have done our best to uphold their wishes while continuing to act in a fiscally responsible manner for the short and long term management and longevity of the church.
We sincerely appreciate the opportunity that has been given to us to be diligent and faithful servants of this local assembly and deeply regret this outcome.
Respectfully,
man I am blowen away with all of this stuff I am trippin. I am a young man who left the will a year ago. I have not set a foot back in a church and I don’t plan to. These pastors are straight
p-i-m-p’s
I was really trying to get into the whole church thing. I was raised going to the will and at this point I just have to bleive that church is in your heart. This is straight game I cant believe that these people call themselves Christians not one person has called me to see why I stopped coming but during the few classes that I went to the teacher Woodard kept talking about how we were part of the family.
I serioiusly never knew that church could be this bad the pastor is a hustler the deacons are straight g’s. man I hate that I ever came to the will and wasted my time. I can now say that I know the “game” that all these pastors run and I told my mom that she is wasting her time. You got me tyson you are a straight pimp man. I brought my boys with me one Sunday and my boy tp called it. On his first visit he said man why are you bothering with this this cat is a Pizimp. This blog is funny you people are wasting your time,
You can laugh if you want but understand, this is a very serious matter.
The group that has taken over Goodwill on behalf of Garry Tyson will physically hurt you if you try to stand in their way.
At the last meeting they had (on a Sunday) 9 police cars showed up to qwell the violent activity.
Sunday's are no longer a day of worship at Goodwill. Garry Tyson's Sundays are filled with hate and violence.
People are staying away because they are afraid.
You need to understand that this man doesn't care anything about the members, it's a money thing.
Correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is Garry said he is going to get his money and no one is going to stop him. He is prepared to sue the church.
The church can not afford him. so if no money is coming in and they can not pay him, then he intends to sue the church.
No this is not a laughing matter, this is quite serious. I would not be surprised in the next couple of months to see condos where the church used to be.
If Garry is rolling like a gangsta thug then you know someone is going to get hurt. 9 police cars at the church on a Sunday is a sin and a shame. I know the founders are rolling in their graves.
I wish the church would be audit and then all HELL will break loose when people see where the money is going or has gone.
You're right about the threat to take them to court although it was a big bluff. Tyson has no money to afford a lawyer.
He had the church pay the $20,000+ for his last lawyer. Can you imagine how stupid that was. You take your own church to court and then you make them pay your lawyer.
Both times he went to court he lost and Goodwill was stuck with the bill.
You're right too about the property. He wants them to sell off some of the property they own to help pay his salary and the bills.
Then when that money's gone it will be the church next. He'll pluck that church dry and then leave.
Tyson and that wife of his are users. They have used and hurt so many people at Goodwill and it's sad.
The brainwashed ones that are doing all of his dirty work now are too stupid to see that he will kick them to the curb too when he's done with them.
I applaude the Trustees for stepping down.
What is right will stand on it’s own. What is wrong will soon fall and crumble to pieces. I know it was a hard thing to let go of what some have worked so hard for – but somebody has to be mature enough to understand that they were dealing with a sickness.
The trustees are the bigger persons now. As bible believing people they have to just sit back, pray and wait.
Hopefully the others will come to their senses before the church falls.
Amen amen wooooo work it out dock
To He Made It
Your comments are typical of the idiots who worship Tyson.
For the life of me...I can not understand why people would submit to Garry's leadership.
There is nothing decent nor orderly about him. If this man is unable to take care of his own HOUSE why would folks consider him fit to take care of GOD's HOUSE???
I believe many of the "recovering" addicts are still users because there is no way the actions of Tyson and that pitiful deacon board make sense to sober-minded individuals.
I'm not passing judgement but I do think many of the folks who profess to being saved are still doing the same stuff they did when they were unsaved. When you are saved...the stuff you used to do doesn't feel right anymore...you are convicted in your spirit.
Goodwill has allowed folks to play church for too long and God is not pleased. If we couldn''t protect his church, perhaps he has seen fit to allow the church building to be taken from us, so that we can focus on the 'church' within each of us.
I rarely attend services there because the minute you walk through the door, is like a demonic spirit prevails over that place. You have to be "prayed" up to step foot in there because if not, those fools will have you acting in the flesh in a heart-beat!!!
Be Encouraged, Goodwill. God is not mocked and when he gets through cleaning house be ready for the Homecoming!!
Goodwill continues to deteriorate.
Membership is so low and they are so broke now they are not allowing anyone to have any evening meetings in the church so they can save on electricity.
But that's not stopping Garry from bringing in his cronies from out of town to hold "healing meetings" the first week of each month - all expenses paid.
It's a con game. Their first statements are that Garry is a good Pastor and then they ask the members to bring up money and place at Garry's feet. One even had Garry take off his shoes so the members could put money in his shoes - what kind of mess is that?
How can the members be so blind?
Negligent hiring is when a church hires a Pastor without properly investigating their background or confirming the information provided on their application and it is later discovered that the individual has a background indicating a propensity for misconduct. If the person commits a crime or other inappropriate behavior while acting on behalf of the church, the church could be held liable in a lawsuit.
Paul told the Ephesians, “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” Paul acknowledged that it is shameful to talk about what the disobedient do in secret, adding that “Everything exposed by the light becomes visible for it is the light that makes everything visible.”
During the past twenty years misconduct by those participating in church ministry has dramatically increased. As a result, civil lawsuits and negative media attention have also increased. These incidents are devastating to the persons involved, their families, the church, the denomination, and the community. When misconduct occurs, however, church and denominational leaders often fail to deal adequately with the perpetrators. If the situation is dealt with, perpetrators are sometimes quietly removed from their positions of leadership and allowed to serve other congregations.
goodwill you got to stop. just love each other. it dont look good to talk about your pastor and each other.
Joe
Maybe you should have been there when Tyson was dogging out people that he did not like.
Tell me this - how does a Pastor stand up in the pulpit on a Sunday and teach hate?
How does he make statements that entice people to hurt one another?
When you tell the members that you have a list of people who are against him and they have guns what does that sound like to you?
He has spread terror throughout the church just to hang onto that job.
I refuse to go there anymore and won't let my children or grandchildren go there either.
Unless you've walked in our shoes keep your stupid comments to yourself.
since tyson is there for 3 more years why dont the ones who think he should go go start a new church and call a pastor ?
Joe,
lol, you are sooo silly!! Obviously the ones who do not support Tyson, have left and when you find your self and others standing outside the church wondering why all the doors are locked...just know that you were warned.
Folks will continue to pray for Goodwill, but if you attend services every Sunday...you know it is going downhill. Ignorance is bliss, so enjoy your blissful ignorance.
Anonymous you are a pathetic untruth teller. Bishop Tyson is not teaching hate at Goodwill, but hate has been exhibited with vandalism and bodily threats of harm to Pastor Tyson and his family by the people who oppose him. But of course you fail to mention those incidents because that would detract from the slant of your postings. Neither did he ever say he had a list of names of the people who don't like him,nor that they had guns. No list is needed, because every one knows who they are by their actions. As to the financial situation at Goodwill,be sure to ask someone who attended the business meeting last night for a copy of the financial report. Goodwill is not taking in the amounts of the past, but then neither are a lot of other churches, due to the economic recession our country is in. But, Goodwill is not in the red either. There is money in the several banks, bills are being paid and the members still left at Goodwill are moving toward reconciling our church family. So why don't you stop your predictions of doom and gloom, where the church doors will be locked. Don't forget to mention that part of the reason for the upward movement of Goodwill's financial picture is because Pastor Tyson by his own choice has foregone receiving a salary from the church for 2010. Doesn't sound like much of a greedy, money hungry person to me.
To continue my last post;you brought up the subject of guns at Goodwill, well there or should I say there were members there who boasted that they were packing and were willing to put a cap into Pastor Tyson, Elder Tyson and the children if they got in the way. If you are a long time resident of Seattle, you know yourself that has been an ongoing practice at Goodwill, and the members didn't care who knew it. I knew about before even moving to this city. So yes there has been trouble at Goodwill between Pastor Tyson and some members, but there has always been strive between Pastors at Goodwill and some members. Remember this;if a church membership continues to call a pastor and within 2-5yrs turns on each pastor they have called, there is a problem with the membership not the pastor. Goodwill has had a spirit of rebellion for several decades, known about all over the country. It has always been about POWER,not God's work. They have been playing church, now it's time to get down to the real business of building God's kingdom by saving souls.
It's quite obvious that you have been so brainwashed that trying to get the message across to you is a waste of time.
You might have noticed, if you are still going to Goodwill, that the true believers are no longer going there.
You have been badly misinformed about the history of Goodwill and their Pastors - but trying to tell you the truth would not do any good.
You are not being given true information about the finances. If you have the ability to read, look at the finance sheet and you will notice that checks are being written to Tyson for his salary.
I was at the church when Tyson mentioned his list and mentioned that fact that they have guns. That makes it a terrorist statement. He also stated that they were coming out to his house, climbing on his roof and looking in his windows. If that doesn't sound like a crazy person, I don't know what does.
I could go on and on but your brain will not accept the truth.
The hundreds of members that have left the church have moved on. Tyson has what he wants - total control. Good luck.
One of the hallmarks of every cult is its propensity to gather closely around a leader and to elevate that leader to a kind of kingly status both in their minds, and in their treatment of this leader. The leader's words and sayings becomes law. The leader is often viewed as being above reproach. In Christian circles, it is often viewed as "carnal" and "unruly" to be critical of the leader, particularly if that criticism deals with doctrinal positions taken by the leader, or pronouncements that are viewed by some as contrary to Scripture.
In Christianity today, we are witnessing a dramatic rise in the cult of the personality resulting in a flood of bad pastors standing in our pulpits. Today, we are seeing two distinct movements within Christianity. First, there is the fleshly, man-centered risings of certain churches, always occasioned by man with a powerful, dominating personality, who takes control over the church, leading it according to his own sense of direction. Naturally, his position is that the direction he is taking the church is towards God, because, after all, he is following Christ. It is not uncommon for such strong leaders to become, in a real sense, an "extra-biblical" manifestation of Christ and His Word to the people. They will come to feel that they are seeing God manifested in this man, and that this man is so close to God, that when he speaks, it is as though God speaks. In other words, these men, these bad pastors, these corrupt leaders within the Body, these wolves in sheep's clothing, become so powerful that they are often able to turn the people away from God, and are able to lead the people completely astray.
The second movement is one that is more difficult to see and more difficult to combat. Under the ruberic of "love," some Christian churches has begun aligning themselves and their people with other churches that are on the perimeters of Christianity (and some are beyond the pale). Some churches and Christians have moved into a stream of affiliations and ties that will soon become snares. They are attempting to mesh doctrinal differences or in some instances, deliberately avoiding the differences, and concentrating on the "positives."
I contend that both of these movements tend to create churches that are cultic. Both of them lead to the same destination, albeit by different routes. But, though the journey may take different turns, and may have different sights, at the end of that road there is a final stop-- Idolatry. The ultimate sin that is pervasive in the congregation is the substitution of a man, for God. They never see it, and would never admit to it. But it is there.
This is an apology to Anonymous for posting my last post under your name. The continuation post on June 5, 2010 at 11:35 was mine TRUTH TELLER. I was in a hurry and forgot to enter my name so it posted as Anonymous; I do not want to be associated with the half truths, innuendos and straight lies of Anonymous.
Everything I know of Goodwill's history came from Goodwill members of long standing. Some of the very HUNDREDS of members you mentioned;which is also an untruth because Goodwill's membership has never been more than 300 in the last 10yrs,and only 50% of that number were consistent in attendance and giving.
They are not gone because of Pastor Tyson, but because they have become weary with the constant battles with each Pastor called to Goodwill after the founder Pastor Mitchell. Some old timers that have remained have stated publicly how this church has a negative history of fighting Pastors. I trust their word over someone such as yourself, who throws stones but hides your hands.
Yes, there are checks written to Pastor Tyson for his benefit package,i.e.,housing allowance, health, etc.,but not for a salary because there is none. I am an accounting major,so I am very capable of reading and deciphering financial reports.
But as you stated yourself, your brain will not accept any truth but your own,so I'm out. Better things to do with the time God has given me than to spend it with you.
You say that Truth Teller is your name and you talk about someone throwing stones and hiding their hands.
If you are so truthful, why don't you give your real name.
Gary Wolfe, my name is Aleen A. Roberts. I have been a member of Goodwill since 1997. I have never moved my membership or been lax in my attendance or giving.
I have no problem revealing my identity; I was under the impression that tag names were the norm on your site. Since no one else has given their true names.
But believe me when I say, if I'm woman enough to say something, I'm also woman enough to acknowledge that I said it.
I also always check my facts before entering into debates of a serious nature.
Now tell me more about yourself Mr. Wolfe, because I have never heard your name mentioned at Goodwill in all of the years I have been in attendance.
My name is Gary Wolfe and I could care less if you know me or not. I would be very surprised if you knew all the members of Goodwill.
I know you well, you and your entire family and I understand why you are making the comments you are.
It explains alot.
Aleen, you stabbed Carl's daddy and you sleep with married men. You are exactly the type of Christian that belongs at Goodwill under Garry's leadership.
Sorry Gary Wolfe for acting ugly on your blog but if you could see how this woman acts in church, you would throw up!
Also, Aleen you are a liar because you did move your membership with H.B. Sampson....you, your sisters and your mother!
If you were so happy with your new churh why did you come back to the old one?
Anonymous, I had disobeyed my Pastor's request to all members to not post on this site and had decided that I would not continue.
However, after your last posting I find that I must respond to your slander.
I do not yet know who you are but, I will find out legally and will bring a law suit against you for libel immediately.
Lie #1: I have never stabbed anyone in my entire life.
I will be sure to tell Carl you are spreading this lie about his parents; I'm sure he will be happy to join in on the lawsuit.
Please be prepared to show your evidence of this incident. Carl's father's name, the date of the incident, the location and the police report that would be public knowledge.
I as everyone else am a sinner saved by grace, and admit I have not always lived the Christian life God called me to live.
However, as I've said before, I have no problem admitting what I say or do.
Yes, I have past sins, one of which was having a long term relationship with a married man. It was never a secret nor did we make any attempt to hide the affair. Because when I was in the world,I was not ashamed of my life, just as now that I am saved I'm not ashamed either.
Lie #2: I did not ever move my membership from Goodwill, I was the only member of my family that did stay. These facts can be verified by the church records of Goodwill where my membership remained in tact and the records of Metropolitan where my name never appeared on any membership role. Also former members of Metropolitan, and not just my family members will testify I was never a member.
This can also be verified by the members of the Gospel Choir at Goodwill that will testify that I remained a member in good standing in that ministry.
You have just dug yourself into a deep, deep hole. I'm hope you are ready for the journey to dig yourself out.
Now that I can prove that you are a LIAR, it should be very clear to others reading your postings that you are not a person of integrity, nor do you speak the TRUTH.
Keep up the good work and continue to give me the fuel I will need to own any and everything you have accumulated in your pathetic life. I was praying for an early retirement, you just might be the ticket.
By the way Anonymous, just how do I act in church that is inappropriate.
I praise and worship God,I agree with an "Amen" or "Preach" when the truth is spoken by anyone at the podium. I shout when the spirit is upon me.
I show love and respect to everyone, especially the elders, even when I don't always agree with them. I don't stand around gossiping after church; I only speak at church meetings when I have a valid question or a pertinent fact I want to share with the membership.
Oh, I know what it is; it's because I walk around barefoot. That must be what you find so offensive.
Oh well, nobody's perfect.
Aleen, you are sooo Garry Tyson with your talk of a "lawsuit". Check the
1st amendment, my dear. Oh yeah, I forgot, you were an "Accounting" major.
Also, I noticed you did not say anything against my "allegation" of you sleeping with married men.
My understanding is that your son Carl, stayed with Angela while you were in prison serving time for "attempted murder". Was it someone else you stabbed and not his father?
Sue me?? You have to have money in order to hire an attorney or do you plan to borrow from your mother?
Now, you kick out your sister, the woman who took care of your son while you were locked up? Angela is homeless. Yet, you love GOD?
You don't have a career. You will not RETIRE from anything. You will continue to work until you draw your last breath. Any judge will laugh at your attempt for any lawsuit, just like Tyson was laughed out of court not once, not twice but THREE times!
I find your willingnesss to worship Tyson offensive. There is a difference between support and enabling. I don't have a hell to put you in but...
Anonymous
Don't worry about her bluff about a lawsuit. It would take a court order to get the info. And then she would have to go to court and show how she was hurt.
It would take thousands of dollars to pull this off. I guess she could get Goodwill to pay her lawyer like Tyson did.
Anonymous I & II, here is a link re the 1st Amendment I think you might want to peruse. http://www.usconstitution.net/constnot.html#exp
Of course you can always read the amendment in it's entirety. I just felt this would be a better read for you, since you can't seem to read too much at one time.
Otherwise, how could you have missed the part where I said I have never stabbed anyone in my life. Or the part where I acknowledged the one truth you did tell re my affair with a married man.
First, you speak as if you have definite knowledge of my alleged attempted murder. Then you say it is your understanding, as if you are now attempting to back peddle from your original statement. Too late, it's out there now for public viewing. It's called "defamation".
I have a position with the State of Washington, which I could never attain without a complete and thorough background check. How would I have passed that with a felony of that magnitude on my record.
I have never been to jail let alone prison. So again you opened your mouth and inserted your foot.
If you know so much about my history, please explain how I was allegedly in prison, yet at the same time a home owner living in California, with another son at home who was still in school. Holding down a full time position with Southern California Edison, a major utility company in the state.
Carl was already an adult when he joined Goodwill, so he did not need someone to take care of him or to stay with. But even if he had needed that, there was and still is plenty of our family living in California.
But then again, this is your version of our life, and not the truth.
These facts I will prove in court, and believe me I will have my day in court. What facts can you prove?
How thoughtful of you to be concerned with my financial situation. However, there is no need, for I am more than solvent enough to take you on,without anyone else assisting me financially.
You compare me to Pastor Tyson, you are so wrong. He never brought forth a lawsuit; it was brought forth against him. So he hired an attorney to defend himself and the others named in the suit. Just as I imagine you will do when we begin our litigation.
Read the court documents, they are public records and can be viewed by anyone.
Pastor Tyson has repeatedly stated he does not want to move legally against anyone. I however, am not of that same thought. I want to and will move legally against you and anyone else I have to in this matter, because you have publicly posted lies intent on defaming me. You have been allowed to do this on this site, so perhaps the blog owner will have to be included.
I am not an attorney, so I will leave that to my attorneys. Oops I almost gave you their names.
But you are partially correct on how to acquire the information needed by my attorneys to pursue this. It's called a subpoena.
You can look up the word if you don't know the definition.
As for my sister being "homeless", perhaps I don't understand your interpretation of the word. Webster says, it is a place where one lives.
Not that it is really your business, but Angela and I have not shared a residence for over 5yrs. When she moved she moved to a house not far from me with her daughter who was still in high school. But I'll let my sister handle her own business.
Keep posting your lies, it just gets better and better. Still throwing stones and hiding your hand.
Gary Wolfe, not that I have a problem identifying myself, but why was it imperative that you know my name? I've not seen anywhere on this site that you requested the identity of your other guest.
Now that I have, it appears that I have become the target for the hate on this blog.
It doesn't really matter, I can take the heat...LOL
You said you know me very well; but I think perhaps you should say you know of me.
Obviously, I don't know you, so how is it possible for one person to know another very well, if they've never have any interaction.
To my knowledge you and I have never spent any time in each others company; unless Gary Wolfe is not your true name, but a pseudonym. I'm sure I would remember knowing someone with that name.
I've asked my family and they don't know the name either.
Just to set the record right, you and others seem to think I'm a defending Pastor Tyson because I'm so in awe of him. You have your right to your opinion.
Pastor Tyson is just a man with flaws like the rest of us. I'm in awe of only God. What I really am is a proponent of the truth and I wouldn't care who was the Pastor at Goodwill, even you. If I was aware of blatant lies and/or half-truths being told of any member I would speak out against it with facts not innuendos.
I never go along just to get along. People who really do know me well, know this about me.
Which is probably why I'm not liked by Anonymous. I must have really made that person angry when I challenged them. Why else would someone stoop so low?
They immediately went for my jugular as soon as they knew who I was.
Even that would have been ok, if they had stopped at the one truth they told about me, because all have sinned and come short of God's glory. Isn't that the reason we praise him? Because he saved us from ourselves!
Perhaps you and Anonymous have lived perfect lives, so you have no tolerance for we non-perfect ones.
But is it really necessary to attempt to kill someone's reputation just to make yourself look good? Talk about "attempted murder", how ironic.
It's how I was raised and is a part of my core being.
Keep talking Aleen.
It just shows how stupid you are.
Remember, when you talk about taking this blog to court your boy Tyson's business will be brought up too.
Your stuff only came up when you opened your big mouth.
Let's see how quick Tyson kicks you to the curb when he finds out what you are doing.
Mz. Aleen I don’t know you, but I know your type. People like you are at every church, instead of stand by your man, you are standing by your pastor, whether he is right or wrong. I have heard a lot about Goodwill, the fighting and back biting all in the name of the Lord. Well let me school you, God is not in that mess and yes I said mess.
Your pastor and first lady came to my church one time and they looked and walked the walk of a pimp and a hoe. Yes you heard what I said, you see I do go to church and God is dealing with me in certain areas and yes I can admit it, but I had never seen a so called pastor and wife looking like them. Now I just know bits and pieces of Goodwill’s business and I must say I don’t know all the facts, but your first lady got up there speaking about God without quoting a scripture or even opening her bible
Mz. Aleen does your first lady know the bible….. I am not here to judge you Mz. Aleen, I am happy that you have come clean and you don’t sleep with married men. I too shall strive to be like you one day to come clean about ones sins.
Mz. Aleen you said you are an accountant, then why didn’t you stand up and say something when the church was going into financial trouble, now I could be wrong, but I did hear that the trustees got up before the church and told the church that it is in financial trouble.
As far as all the other comments regarding the church if those that are still there and what to be a part of Gary Tyson House of Cult, well let them, ultimately they will have to answer to God not Gary Tyson, because Gary Tyson cannot save them. Remember someone by the name of Jim Jones? Oh well…… One last question, I have never heard of a Baptist church having a Bishop…. that’s new to me. Learn something new everyday

The more you post the more you show your ignorance.
If I'm suing you re the lies you posted about me personally, how do you think Pastor Tyson's business would even be entered into the court proceedings.
Judges are not interested in our opinions, or any information that does not pertain to the case before them. They only want to hear the facts of the case.
Since the lies you have alleged against me happened before either of us even knew there was a Garry Tyson on the planet, how would he or his business be pertinent to the case.
You lied, you defamed my character in a way that could cause me harm, i.e., employment, financially, etc.
I'm calling you out on the lies and you will have to provide evidence that you did not lie.
That is how the justice system works.
Get an attorney, do your research, then Holla Back.

No, you don't know me nor I you probably. I'm not a type, I'm an individual who thinks for myself.
I stay out of other people's business because I believe what my Grandmother said; If you take the time that is necessary to handle your own business, you won't have time to be in the business of others .
I am not standing by anyone, I'm standing up for what God loves and that is the truth.
When Goodwill voted Pastor Sampson out it was based on lies that he stole money from the church, but there was never any proof. Pastor Sampson was a good man, but a man none the less with flaws, but to my knowledge he was not a thief. I was a Trustee during that period of time, so I know for a fact he did not have access to any money other than his salary and love offerings. So I spoke out against the lie.
When the vote to remove all of the Trustees at Goodwill was held, even though the same lies about taking money were alleged against Pastor Tyson, which he too does not have access to;I voted against the motions because I did not want to see all the members of either ministry removed. I only wanted to see the leadership of those ministries gone because they were using backdoor and underhanded tactics to remove the Pastor.
Everything they alleged was disputed in writing, but they never provided any evidence to the contrary. Just gossip and innuendo.
I deal in black & white,no gray areas. So until I have proof I do not follow the group.
You are absolutely correct when you say God is not in mess, but mess is in his people. It is the nature of man to be messy.
I do what my Mother and Grandmother taught me,which is to stand up for right and let God handle the messy people in his own way and his own time.
The in-fighting and back biting at Goodwill did not start when Pastor Tyson arrived. Neither does it only happen just at Goodwill. The difference I've found at Goodwill is that the members seem to love airing their dirty laundry.
As long as God's people at Goodwill are not truly repentant and converted to follow his word, all of it,not just the parts they like, there will continue to be outburst of pure insanity,i.e.,fighting in the sanctuary, threats of bodily harm, tongues that try to assassinate others.
I'm not a church hopper, nor am I the least bit concerned with what others think of me,so I'll remain right there at Goodwill as long as God's word is being taught. I follow along in my bible,so I know for myself if scripture is being misquoted. I take notes on Sunday,at Bible Study and wherever else I am where the word is taught;to study during the week and ask questions.
CONTINUATION OF PREVIOUS POST:
I can't address your comment on Pastor Tyson and our 1st Lady walking like a pimp and a hoe, because I'm not sure what that walk looks like.
Neither am I sure what the required look is for a Pastor and 1st Lady. Pastor Tyson wears suits sometimes and jeans at other times. Elder Tyson wears what most women of her generation wear, dresses and sometimes pants.
Yes,our 1st Lady knows the Bible, and quotes scripture. She uses the Bible when preaching the word as do most ministers. But when you are speaking about the goodness of the Lord in your life do you always have to have a scripture ready or an open Bible? If it comes from your heart and it touches others, sometimes that's enough.
Finally, I have spoken up about the finances of the church. I have said in meetings that if everyone paid their tithes and gave an offering as we are instructed to in the word, there would be no financial difficulties. It doesn't take an accountant to see what has happened. Neither can an accountant fix the problem.People are mad at Pastor Tyson,so they stopped giving. Some are giving to a special bank account, waiting for Goodwill to fall. Then they hope to gather their hidden finances and come to the rescue of the church.I think that is pathetic, they would rather see God's church fall than to do what He has commanded us to do in His word and that is to give.
I close with these words to you. It isn't hard to admit your sins, when you know you have been forgiven, not by man but by God. Then there is nothing to be ashamed of or to keep hidden.
May God Bless You
Secure Connection, thank you for your encouragement.
Your brief statement means more to me than you will ever know. Much more than anything else said to me on this site.
I believe Christians should always be found striving to uplift the body of Christ, not tear it down.
I also think believers are easily discouraged when they read or hear the type of vitriol that has been sprewed on this site.
Why would they want to be a part of the body, when they see how so called Christians act. They can stay in the world and see more loyalty and unity than is exhibited in our churches today.
With God's help I will remain strong and stay focused on my path.
Thank you also for reminding the bloggers on this site of what they probably did not take the time to read when they originally signed on. It's too late for Anonymous, they will see me in court. But,perhaps others will be more conscientious when they post.
Be blessed!
Miss Aleen
You might want to read the statement that was made when this blog was put up. It had nothing to do with you.
You chose to put yourself out there, and that's your fault.
You're living in a controlled bubble. Go talk to some of the people that the Tyson's have hurt. Talk to some that have left the church. Hear their side of the story, don't just believe everything that Tyson tells you.
Some of the statements you're making are not even true. That's why the "Goodwill" story is so jacked, because of people like you and your dysfunctional thinking.
I've sat back quietly at Goodwill and listened and read the information that was presented. There IS a serious problem there.
Of course it's not all Tyson's fault, he's just on opportunist. Your Official Board has been behind a lot of the problems.
You have to have people on those boards that are visionary - that have a vision for the church not just for the Pastor. Everyone in the church needs to be taken care of - and I don't mean with money. I mean with messages and programs that will build them up, not tear them down.
Goodwill has been going down for years and no one seems to care. Every member should hold the same importance.
After service I've seen you run up to Tyson to hug him and Nicole. How many members do you do that to? How many members do you call during the week to see how they are doing? How many sick and shut-in do you visit? What outreach programs are you involved in?
I advise you to think seriously about the problems and be part of a solution. Don't continue to sit there and watch the decline and blame it on everyone but yourself.
Marsha Johnson,I think you have me confused with someone else. I very rarely even speak to Bishop or Elder after service. I don't feel the need to. Besides there enough people that find it necessary to be all up in their faces after church.
Most times I'm on my way right out the side door to gets my car in a position easily accessible for my mother. You see that is my primary focus after church, seeing to the needs of my mother who is usually tired and immediately ready to leave. Then we have a good time riding and discussing the message we've just heard and how we can apply it to our daily lives.
The people you may see me hug are the Mother's of the church;each Sunday I make it my business to give as many of them as I can a kiss and/or a hug.
I honor and revere seniors, and recognize that many of them are ignored by the membership,so I want them to always know I love them.
You are right this blog was not started about me,but when I was asked to identify myself by the blog owner I did so. Then it became about me because of the responses to my post.
I and others have asked repeatedly in meetings for a Town Hall format meeting which would allow people to air their grievances. Some members have been asked to facilitate these meetings, but all asked declined.
Since so many people at Goodwill do not like me,I feel my offer to facilitate a meeting would fall on deaf hears. They think as I have heard that I "drink Tyson's koolaid".
What a joke. I have asked members what has happened to cause such a rift and the answer I get is "you just don't know". Well of course I don't know that's why I asked the question.
Pastor Tyson and I are not in constant communication as many seem to think. He's too busy and so am I. We do not sit around discussing the membership at Goodwill.
Please feel free to point out my untruths.
What have I said that can not be verified in meeting minutes?
What proof is there that the Official Board has acted dishonorably? This is the question I have asked often, yet continue to get vague innuendo, but never concrete evidence. As I said before I deal with black & white, not emotions.
I've also said if provided evidence of wrong doing I would go to Pastor Tyson for answers.
Furthermore, although I do not believe in the removing of a Pastor for making a mistake;if proof of mismanagement or misuse of the finances of the church are proved I would publicly request acknowledgment and an apology.
As to personal slights people have against Pastor Tyson, that's not my business.
I too in the have been disappointed and hurt by actions of men of God,but it did not stop my attendance at church,my giving to the ministry or my participation in ministry. That's because I don't serve a man,I serve a true and living God.
How about you becoming a part of the solution instead of sitting back quietly observing. If you have a plan for a ministry at Goodwill that would edify the body, come forth. If you have some wisdom to assist in healing the wounds, step up.
I work in ministries that I have a talent for,but support all ministries. Where are you Marsha, when ministries have programs and less than a handful of the membership attends to support them.
Where are you when Goodwill is invited to other churches during the week and less than a dozen members stand.
If you are there,I commend you. If you are not there, please don't analyze what I do.
You should be focusing on how to digest the word given;not on me and what I may or may not be doing after service.
Trust me when I tell you that I give no thought to what you do after church.
I can not believe all that I have read. I am so glad that i left this church more than 2 years ago. I have never heard of such foolishness.

Since you left Goodwill Church over 2 years ago, and so happy that you did, (your own admission) Perhaps you should not meddle. Keep moving. Stop looking back into your past; start looking FORWARD to your future...

@Aleen, lol....obviously, you told some of your fellow hens to come support you on this site!!
Why did you venture on here in the

To Anonymous who posted June 15, 2010 @ 3:47PM.
You are such a joke. You seem to think it is impossible for other people to read a post and feel compelled to comment, just as I did to your post that caused me to respond in the first place.
The other hens as you call them, have remained obedient to Pastor Tyson's request to not post to this site. But if they did, they too would have had no problem identifying themselves as I have. So you would have known who they were.
We have been laughing so hard at you recent comments because you seem to have lost your focus;you have been unable to respond coherently to anything I have said to you except attempt to besmirch my character.
Yes,you do care why I came to this site in the 1st place or you would have never asked the question. To answer your question,we had periodically been checking out what was being said on the site;what I read that was posted May 11,2010 and June 3, 2010 by someone calling themselves Anonymous just spoke to my spirit and I had to respond.
What does my age have to do with this or is there an age restriction to blogging that I'm not aware of? Maybe you think by exposing my age you are embarrassing me. The joke is on you again; I'm 61 and a great grandmother, who lives an extremely busy and fulfilling life.
I'm the president of a board, which focuses on helping our community especially young women. That's just one of the things I do to give back.
What do you do? Never mind I don't care...LOL
A leader who has to control & dictate their people never really learned to follow themselves & will not last long in leadership because when its time to allow others to step up they won't know what to do which is the birth place of frustration & or disappointment.
God gave us dominion over things not people.
Stated by Bishop Kenneth Moales Sr.
I was at Goodwill on Sunday and heard their plea to help the Pastor with his finances. I understand from one of the members that he had to move out of the million dollar home he was living in.
I asked why he did not get a salary and they said the church has lost so many members that they can't pay him. He was once getting over $100.000 in salary and benefits.
I know that a lot of churches are going through the same situation and it's sad.
Pastors should not be forced to live like common people.
I would like to put on a benefit for him and his family to help them get back to the life they were once living.
I will get back to you and let you know the details.
This is a tragedy.
To Olivia Thompson, please let us know when, where and how we can help. It is so good to know there are people willing to be of assistance to a man of God and his family.
Glad to know you were in service last Sunday, hope you enjoyed yourself; I know I got my "praise" own.
The rumor is that the church can't pay the Pastor, but the truth is this. At the last business meeting held in 2009, Pastor Tyson announced he would be voluntarily giving up his salary because of the down turn of the finances of the church.
As you stated, many churches have been effected by the economy, since the members are being effected by the economy.
However, there are some members who've indicated that they have purposely withheld their contributions in order to bring down the church and then blame the downfall of the church on the Pastor.
They've also said, if he leaves the church then, they will bring in the money that they have placed in a secret bank account to help out the church.
Thank you for visiting us and please come back.
All I can say is WOW! Funny how people are accountants but yet see no problem in what is going on at Goodwill today.
Fact: At the time the trustees were unlawfully dismissed, the church has well over $138,000 in savings including CD's in the bank.
Fact: Per the last business meeting, the church is barely scraping by with $2000 in offerings every Sunday, and has less than $10,000 in savings (not sure how much more black & white you are looking for Aleen)
Fact: Garry Tyson did agree not to take a salary
Fact: Per the last business meeting he was a line item for a salary at approximately $102,000 per year
Fact: Many of the members have left Goodwill for many different reasons, and yes one of the reasons is Garry Tyson, but also due to the emotional, & spiritual damage that has been done to the church body. It is obvious that Goodwill was split, but when your "leadership" refuses to acknowledge the problem, and is only worried about how many people he has in his corner that will vote in his favor, there is a problem.
Fact: Goodwill is currently in grave danger of losing their 501C3 status.
Fact: The IRS WILL audit the church, & Aleen & others that only see things "black & white" and no gray, well I am sure after that takes place there will be a whole lot of black & white pics for ya
Fact: Goodwill has suffered such a great loss. Many people have had to mourn the death of Goodwill as it has been known in the community. People that have been there their whole lives are gone, and because of what....greed & power struggles.
No one wishes for the downfall of Goodwill, but reality says, it is falling. If God can take out cities in the blink of an eye, he can most certainly remove a church that is operating in lies and deceit. Aleen, I cannot believe that you are blind by your own admission. You know people have left, but how many of them have you called? How many of them are you truly concerned about? And for the people that have come on here stating the people that left should start their own church, let's not forget that those were some of the same people that put their houses up, and helped to pay of the building that most of you are now only "playing" church in. I have never heard Garry offering to put his house up as collateral to bring the church back..(oh yeah he doesn't own one to do so)..For those of you still sippin the Koolaide, I pray you wake up before you too may be entangled in something you cannot get out of!!!
PS..
Aleen, I have noticed that you continuously mention a "secret" bank account that people may have started. Well if by chance they have, it might be a good thing. Those may just have to be the people that will have to outright save Goodwill from the brink of becoming extinct! Since you are a bible scholar as stated in some of your previous posts, you should know that the bible states "Bring ye all tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, it I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Malikai 3:10
Now for all you bible scholars it does not say that the only storehouse is Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church. People may be paying their tithe into as Garry says "good soil" and we all know that the soil at Goodwill right now is toxic! Furthermore, if by chance their is some "secret" bank account out there, well you may want to become friends with some of the people that own it. You never know when you may need some type of financial help and you don't know who it is going to come from. It is not like there is a benevolence fund at Goodwill anymore. & how would I know this? Well let's just say some of the members have asked for help from the deacons, and were turned away. & you say there is nothing wrong...hmmmmm??????
PS..Aleen, I saw that you mentioned a "secret" account that some people may have. Well let's just put this in to terms shall we. If by chance there is a secret account out there, you might not want to knock it. Mal 3:10 says: "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Now bible scholars, it says no where in that scripture that the only store house is Goodwill. Per your pastor, he says to sow into "good" soil, and I am afraid that Goodwill is currently considered toxic. Besides, that alleged secret account may just keep the doors of the church from closing for good and no longer being a part of the community. Also, the comment made about doing a fundraiser for the pastor is not a good idea at all. I believe bridges were burned with many other churches & leadership in the community after the fire the pastor had (you all know the one where he stood in the pulpit and said he lost over 90% of his families belongings which for anyone that actually went to the house for the cleanup saw that it was only the garage, and the only person who lost 90% of their stuff was his sister in law Janelle (RIP) ). I remember the community near and far rallied around him, and I do believe he and his family made out pretty good from it. Last estimate I had heard was between $100,000 and $500,000 they received for their loss, but I don't remember a house being purchased afterward. I do remember everyone in their family got new top of the line cell phones and was at the mall every weekend buying designer clothing, and trips being made all across the country, cars purchased, and many other materialistic things that they probably no longer have. If you feel as though the church cannot financially sustain your pastor's way of life & you need to throw a car wash or sale chicken dinners for him, and could care less about the property the church sits on, go for it! However, I believe that would further prove the point that it has nothing to do with Goodwill that has been in the community for 65+ years, but it is all about the Garry & Nicole show!
One of the things you need to realize is that Pastors prey on simple-minded single women.
Not for sexual purposes but to get what they want out of a church.
Take a look around your church most of the women you see doting on the Pastor are single women who have no man in their life.
The Pastor is "their man". They will do anything for him. They will ignore paying their tithes and offering to slip money into the Pastors hand or in his "Love Offering" basket.
They turn a blind eye towards any wrong doing of the Pastor because they believe he can do no wrong.
If a Pastor does not like a certain person, then they don't like them either.
They will actually resort to criminal activity by attacking another member to protect "their man".
Goodwill, look around, have you seen this going on in your church?
It means that your church is sick. There's a cancer in it and it's growing.
You've probably let it grow for too long now. Uncurable.
I agree with you doc.
Tyson's list includes some of the most pitiful women you have ever seen.
They have stood up in the meetings and made motions that have destroyed the church.
They are brainless silly women who think that Tyson cares about them.
Fools, he only cares about himself and what he can get out of Goodwill.
The members of Goodwill need to wake up and ask specific questions about the business and finances of the church.
There is church property in jeopardy. If they cannot secure re-financing on the Medina property they will most likely mortgage the church to pay off that loan.
That would put the church building in jeopardy.
If you don't think you could lose your church, ask the former members of New Covenant.
You need to make sure you are asking questions in your meetings and not just sit there like dummies and believe everything you are told.
You've come to a low point in the history of your church and you must stand up and not sink any lower.
WOW!! I see some of you have really been active bloggers the past couple of weeks.
Sorry, I haven't had time to respond sooner, but there is life outside of Goodwill and this Blog, and I have one.
To This Is A Shame: If you have really comprehended my previous postings, you would know I have never not acknowledged that there are financial problems at Goodwill. The difference between you and I is that I try not to be a part of the problem, but a part of the solution.
I certainly have not been as devoted to keeping up with where Bishop & Elder Tyson shop or what they purchase as you seem to have been.
Your post was so convoluted I can't address everything you said at this time, however, one thing you said did puzzle me. If Bishop, as you said, stated that they had lost 90% of their belongings, I would say with the loss of a car, that that would be a close 90%. Furthermore, he did say family members: so is a sister-in-law not a family member? Things that make you go HMM...
Gotta go, but will get back with answers to your other issues when I have the time to do the research.
I am sad for all the pain this trauma is inflicting on all parties, but most importantly the Body of Christ. It is clearly evident that there are many layers of hurt and problems embroling this church and the pastor. It is also evident that this is not a new problem but a stronghold of many years. This just appears to be the latest chapter. My prayer to God for all is that you seek to give God the Glory in everything you do, including your postings on this blog regardless of your position.

The reason you could not find it was the links were taken down for several years. definitley not a governmentally recognized accreditied school according to any of the US Govt Regional or National Accreditors:
www.detc.org,(distance learning) www.sacs.org (Regional for state of Florida)www.abhe.org (Bible degrees bachelors only)www.tracs.org (Ministry degrees both distance and on campus). None of this means the school does not exist or is not any good. Only if the degrees were presented as Regionally or Nationally accredited by the Govt should this be an issue. If originally presented as non accredited or not accredited by the govet then it should not be a problem.

Ms. Truth Teller-
I am not going to get on this blog and degrade you and anyone else. You stated that you are a person that wants facts to make your own decisions. There were facts presented, and apparently that is not what you wanted. I believe that you have further proved the point that was made previously, you can not and will not accept the truth of the falling of Goodwill! To tell me that I am a part of the problem and you are a part of the solution, once again does not seem very truthful either. Remember Ms. Truth Teller the business meetings when people stood up & asked for a healing of the church? I specifically remember Garry stating "I will not receive that!" When people offered suggestions, and they just so happen to come from people that were not his supporters but people that were truly concerned about the church, he clearly shut them down, and refused to listen, but yet I am a part of the problem? I do not recall you stating any ways to bring the church together at the business meetings, but I do recall when Indianna Allen made motions to get rid of the trustee board and the 5 deacons, you were quick to give your vote in favor of that. I also remember you were quick to make a motion to extend Garry's contract for 3 years instead of just 1, yet I am a part of the problem? I asked very specific questions of you regarding your fellow missing Goodwill members, but instead of dealing with that reality, you'd rather focus on what I said regarding Garry & Nicole's spending habits. Furthermore, it was not necessarily me keeping tabs on their spending, but they were the ones who constantly mentioned it from the pulpit Sunday after Sunday. & I am quite sure the "research" you are looking to do will be in Garry's office believing everything he says. But in all honesty, if a pastor knows that much about the church's finances, you may want to question how far his hand is in it! But, I am quite sure you won't because apparently your reality of the truth and my reality of the truth must be two different things. It has now been over two years since the downfall of Goodwill began. Can you honestly tell me Ms. Truth Teller Goodwill is at its peak right now? Can you honestly tell me that Goodwill is truly on the mend & the church is better off now than it was 6 years ago? Be very "wise" when you answer it because remember you are supposed to be the "Truth Teller"!
PS..thank you to Anonymous on 7/12/10 at 1:44pm for your research of Brevard College. That answers a whole lot of unanswered questions. But so sorry to tell you that we as a congregation were advised that the college was nationally recognized and accredited college.
PPS...
One last thing Ms. Truth Teller and the rest of the bloggers. Yes I stated what Garry & Nicole told us about losing 90% of their belongings in that fire. But Ms. Truth Teller, per my post, I clearly stated which family member lost over 90% of her stuff, and that was Janelle. But, if memory serves me correctly, the community and its leaders did not run to Janelle's aid, they ran to Garry & Nicole's aid. I guess I was thinking 90% as in Hurricane Katrina terms, or Haiti Earthquake terms. To me, those are people that lost at least 90% if not more of what they had. But 90% to me does not mean you are carrying out boxes upon boxes of things including: clothing, electronics, dishes, pictures, shoes, etc....You are right Ms. Truth Teller, it is something that makes you go: hmmmmmmmmm???????
You are welcome to the research. I want to remind you that there are many private and independent accreditaing associations out there that accredit schools as well. It may be that at the time of the questioning that BCU was accredited by one of them. Many times this is done to get around the more stringent and costly govermental accrediting standards while giving prospective students an aura of acceptability and utility. Many businesses and especially churches know very little about accreditation and how it works so it is very easy to use private accreditation and pass it off as govermental accreditation which is what the majority of people think of when you ask the question "is the school accredited?"
There is no problem with having the degrees if the work was done to earn them. Many ministers minister effectively having had no degrees, only completing some classes or having a degree from a
non accredited schools. That is an entirely different conversation.
The problem is in presenting them as accredited if they were not. That is deception especially if you know that if you know that if you say the degrees are not accredited you wont be hired.
To This Is A Shame;either you have difficulty reading and/or comprehending what you read.
I clearly stated, that I choose not to be a part of the problem, but to be a part of the solution. In no reference did I accuse you of being a part of the problem. Because I don't know nor do I care what you choose to be a part of. I'm not that interested in what you do. I thought I made that quite clear. IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU.
Also, in an earlier post some time ago,I stated that I did not, I repeat,DID NOT,vote to remove all of the trustees;you seem to think you have such an accurate accounting of what I do,how did you miss that I stood up for the NAY vote on that motion. I also stated I have made recommendation in meetings for Town Hall settings for grievances to be addressed.
As for where I will find the answers to my research, I will find it right in my briefcase, that I bring to each church meeting;where I keep all minutes, financial reports, etc., when they are given at those meeting.
Bishop Tyson has been at Goodwill 6 or 7 years, and I have entered his office perhaps 3 times in that same time period.
I'm not sure what you are requesting of me when you refer to the "missing" members of Goodwill. I have no reason to address them,it is common knowledge why they left.Since they don't like me,as it appears that you don't either, although I've never done or said anything to you or them,so why would I try contacting for any reason. I love them and pray for them, that's all I'm required of God to do.
Finally, and I rally hope you get it this time: I AM NOT NOW SAYING, NOR HAVE I EVER SAID THAT THERE ARE NOT PROBLEMS AT GOODWILL. THERE DEFINITELY ARE! MANY OF THESE PROBLEMS STEM FROM BACK BEFORE GARRY L TYSON EVER HEARD OF GOODWILL,SO HE CAN'T BE THE REASON FOR ALL THAT HAS GONE WRONG AT GOODWILL. THE STORIES OF GOODWILL'S HISTORY ARE LEGEND. OTHER PASTORS HAVE COMMENTED FROM GOODWILL'S PULPIT HOW CONTRARY AND REBELLIOUS THE MEMBERS ARE KNOWN TO BE. HOW MANY TIMES HAS GOODWILL SPLIT? YOU PROBABLY KNOW THE ANSWER BETTER THAN I.
THE FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES THAT GOODWILL IS NOW FACING ARE NOT ALL RELATED TO THE PREVIOUS IN FIGHTING THERE. MANY CHURCHES ARE FACING THE SAME ISSUES. THERE IS A RECESSION GOING ON IN CASE YOU WERE NOT AWARE.
Sharon
Before you pat July 12 on the back I did a lot of research on Brevard myself long before now. I called the State of Florida and also talked with 2 former students.
These type of schools are not required to be accredited just registered. They are actually unaccredited degree mills.
Brevard had no campus. Classes were held where ever the preacher that was over it at the time could find space. I went to the site that July 12 mentioned. I would suggest you go there to and see if you can find any information about Brevard. This isn't even the same guy who was over this so-called University when Tyson supposedly went there.
It’s nothing but deceptive when pastors portray themselves as highly educated, when they never attended a college, let alone graduate school.
I believe that if a minister is called, they will take the time to prepare. It doesn’t appear that there are very many legitimately-educated pastors. The ones who devote their time to real study of God’s Word in an accredited institution. Then they can preach the Bible in its fullness rather than preaching what people want to hear. Those who espouse their phony titles do only harm to the kingdom, they are not prepared to preach deeply reflective sermons.
@ checked it out myself - the main issue that this church is dealing with is the deception issue if these degrees were presented as regionally and nationally accredited. The rest of your post while great and worthy of another blog subject altogether is not the central issue in this case.
IDK if you are a member if the church or not but if you checked it out and knew it not to be as presented why so many years later is this still an issue? This is something that should have been cleared no later than 30 days after extending a call prior to him moving there from Florida. It could have been used to invalidate a contract if having a regionally or nationally accredited degree recognized by the US Govt was a criteria for being offered the position. Simply saying accredited is not good enough since as I pointed out there are many private and non govermental accreditors that operate legally and accredit many schools.
Churches across the nation call preachers who are the most charismatic, who look the most pastor like, those who look like they are living better than they are and complain when it turns against them and discover they were presented a lie. Make no mistake Goodwill is not alone in this same issue. All across the country this is happening. Many great solid, and committed to Christ preachers will never get a chance to pastor a Goodwill type church because they are too humble, too down to earth, too compassionate. They rarely make the final 3 or 5. Or they wont even apply because of the churches past history because they want to build the people and not fight wars every time they come to the church.
I fully agree with you about Brevard, it's a non-issue at this point.
There should beTo bad there isn't some service that churches can use to help them find a Pastor. Someone who could come in, spend some time with the church members, talk with more than the official staff, look at their past experiences, and then find candidates that could best fit them.
The service would check out all their credientials, credit history and past Pastorial experiences.
Goodwill has taken a lot of flack for their Pastor history. That's because they didn't know what they were doing when they picked the preachers they picked. A good sermon does not a good pastor make.
You have to take a look at the previous Pastors, not the members. Even the one with "real" education credentials had personal problems that affected the churches finances. That hidden fact can't be blamed on the members.
Poor communication & management skills, dogmatic personality, past and present financial issues, immaturity - these are some of the issues Goodwill has had to endure from Pastors.
When do these men have to answer for their actions? Why are the members of Goodwill always blamed when the sheeps clothing comes off of these wolves and they show their true colors.
The community needs to stay out of Goodwill's business. Unless you have been through what the members have been through with these men, you just don't know.
And yes, I am a member. Been there since Rev. Mitchell and I'm embarrassed that we can't get it right.
What is the big deal with the accreditation? NORMAN MITCHELL WAS NOT ACCREDITED and all of you people love him and expect every pastor to be just like him. Well wake up! Stop living in fantasy land. It is all the people who are on here who have made me question my faith because I see crap like this. All of these accusations could or could not be true. However why be immature and post all of this online on a blog instead of calling a meeting in an adult manner without attitude and whatnot. I'm sure that would never happen, however, I'll be praying that it does because it is pure RIDICULOUSNESS that all of this is going on! How dare any of you adults to lead your children to church and whatnot and then carry on like this. Straight hypocrites.
If you're reading this blog what does that say of you?
I'm glad I got your attention. That was what I intended.
Thanks for tuning in.
To Goodwill's Action Has My Faith Tested
You do know that any meeting held at Goodwill would be controlled by Garry and his gang of convicts and idiots.
When something is said in a meeting that they don't like, Tyson walks out of the meeting like a spoiled brat and his gang follows.
There is nothing democratic about meetings held at Goodwill.
To Anonymous,
If what you say is true about Garry Tyson "acting like a brat" then all of you people who carry on yelling and cursing during these meetings are acting like brats as well & THAT'S THE TRUTH! I don't see how you cannot have a civilized meeting without fighting. Its horrible...so while you all are thinking you can talk about Garry's wrong doings, why dont you look at yours. Let He who is without sin cast the first stone.
NOW GO RUN AND TELL THAT HOMEBOY!
You must be talking about the meeting where Garry starting singing in an attempt to drown out Yolanda when she was reading her "Why Can't We Get Along" letter.
If that wasn't a childish act I don't know what is.
If Garry knew how to conduct a meeting there wouldn't be any conflict. It takes a mature person to to do that. He has no skills in that area.
The reason the meetings don't go well is because he has to control the meeting so things go his way. You might remember the meeting when he brought Obey in. That was a total set-up with him and Obey controlling everything.
His idiots were set up with a list of things that he wanted to happen and they were stupid enough to do his bidding.
You are blind as a bat if you haven't seen what is going on.
You can talk about me all you want but I drink from the fountain of righteousness and knowledge, not from Garry's koolaid pitcher.
You don't make any sense. If you "drink from the cup of righteousness and knowledge" then you wouldn't be on this blog downing the man of God. That isn't righteous to me. AT ALL. Hey but to each his own.
With that said, you all act like a child when a meeting is supposed to be structured, as Garry does, and then you all start yelling because the meeting isn't being ran the way you all want it to. That to me is acting like a child. However, I do agree with you that what Garry did to drown you out was a little immature, as adults, you don't need to play into it as you all do. But then again, If I was in his shoes, I'd have to be doing a lot more than singing to calm myself down. The way you people carry on in these meetings in so wrong..& in the house of the Lord! Goodwill better get right with the Lord and stop worrying about the business aspect of the church and worry about your personal walk with the Lord.
NOW GO RUN AND TELL THAT HOMEBOY!
Name just one thing that Garry has done for Goodwill since he has been there.
I don't mean some personal thing that he has done for one of his gang, but for the body of Christ.
He claims he came here to "Show Seattle the Savior". I guess the Pastors that were already here were not doing their job.
Can you explain how he has done that?
Today the churches are filled with people who do not want to hear the truth but would rather listen to fables, lies, and deceits. The only possible reason for this is found in what Jesus said in John 3:20: “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”
They do not want to hear the truth because they know that it will condemn their ungodly lifestyles. Instead they will search out preachers who will not offend their sensibilities. No wonder our churches are full of entertainers and comedians that cradle the congregation into a state of spiritual slumber
These people did not want to hear God’s word anymore. Few are the places where the living word of God is being preached. The preachers and pastors have compromised with “the lying children” and so preach “smooth things” and fables to them. They will entertain them with exaggerated stories and with silly jokes. They will condone murderers, crack-heads, wine bibbers and drunkards amongst them, but will never stand up for the faithful word of God.
The pulpit has become a stage for “playing to the gallery” instead of the place where the Scriptures are upheld and rejoiced over. Some are no longer able to discern when they are being deceived by crooked preachers and foolish pranksters in the pulpit. They fall into every “new wave” abomination hook, line and sinker because they do not know what the Bible says.
Someone recently said that if every Christian took their Bibles off the shelf it would result in the biggest dust storm in history.
Brainwashed Christians today have an insatiable desire for that which is not according to God’s word. Since they only want to hear “smooth things” they look for their Pastor to go along with the false teachings they love so much.
Few of these want to know the sure word of God today. They have traded it in for what appears to be a better model, one that is “smooth” and showy. They desire wealth, exaggerated stories, and down-right lies.
Many Christians who appear to be worshipping God will not tolerate sound teaching, instead they want to be entertained. No wonder they will seek themselves out preachers and teachers that tickle their ears.
God is raising up a people today who will demand that Pastors are truly "Men of God" who preach about sin, repentance, separation from the world, and holy living and not use the pulpit to gain wealth and importance for themselves.
These people get persecuted, mocked, and boycotted, but they know where the blessing of God really is and it's not in worshipping a phony Pastor.
For one, Garry has became a leader for Goodwill. Goodwill needed a leader who was willing (because Sam B. McKinney sure wasn't willing to be the Pastor). Two, Garry Tyson has tried over and over to bring some structure to Goodwill, in which he is trying to do however, people like the "so called" Gary Wolfe, etc are going against the pastor. Garry Tyson has sacrificed his salary for the year so the "body of Christ" can stop grumbling, etc.
I just don't get it. Garry Tyson has endured so much dealing with the people of Goodwill. It takes a strong person to Pastor Goodwill, & I think Garry Tyson is doing a good job....Goodwill better wake up!
I think you're the one that's sleeping. If you open your eyes you might notice that half of Goodwill has left.
That "no salary" thing is just a farce. He's still getting all his benefits paid and that love offering that he gets every Sunday is just a way to get out of paying taxes on the money he gets.
The reason you don't have any money to pay your bills is because Goodwill is no longer good ground to sow tithes and offering.
You had members who were paying thousands of dollars a month and Garry and his bunch chose to turn on them and drive them off.
Now you have a bunch of folks who are all up in Garry's face telling them how much they love him but they're not supporting the church financially.
It's funny, you keep coming back to this blog making your comments. I think the reason for that is because you don't even believe what you're saying yourself.
You close your eyes to the real truth and blame everyone else.
Sure Goodwill has a past. One of the resaons for that is because of people like you. You sit back with eyes, ears and brain closed and let things get to a point where they can't be fixed and then you want to blame others.
If you pick a Pastor that has another agenda when they take the job you get bad leadership.
I realize you can't always know what you're getting because they come in sheeps clothing. But when you give these wolves total control of your church and then you have old senile offical staff members, it is a recipe for failure.
You really need to go back and take a look at the pastoral history of Goodwill. Don't just take the word of one person, do some research.
I urge you to open your eyes and let go of your love for one man and his family and think about the body of Christ.
You'll have to stand before God for yourself. Garry will not be there for you.
Explain this to me -
When Garry first arrived at Goodwill the membership grew to over 900 members. It is now down to around 200.
That means that most of the people who joined under his leadership didn't stay and a lot that were already there left.
The church had hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank and now they can't even pay their bills.
Who are you blaming that on?
The members who left, or those that are still there?
Just a comment on the "No Salary" statement.
The benefits that the church are paying for Garry are:
Housing & utility allowance
Car allowance
Cell phone allowance
Medical and dental insurance
Life insurance
Education allowance
Retirement allowance
No salary?
How in the hell do you consider this no salary?
I worked for years at my job and I had to use my salary to pay for all those things.
I would have gladly worked for "just benefits" if they had given me that opportunity instead of laying me off.
The only thing Garry has to pay for his food and I hear he's crying to blues about paying for that.
Maybe he should go get a job like the rest of us.
He won't get a dime of my unemployment benefits to support his lifestyle.
Garry
People who hurt others have a blindness in their souls.
What about the trustees (who in fact have full access to the money) who steal from the chruch? Dead or Alive. That Jeep that Eleanore Carter is driving is a from church money. That's right! The Late Brother Cater stole that money from the church. But we dont acknowledge that right? Or how about how Althea George paid her daugther's tuition with the church's money? Do we talk about that? No! We just talk about how Garry Tyson has made the church broke.
Do we talk about how the "mighty" Hardy Family use the church's money? No we do not. How about George Waters? Willie Stevens? Minnie Scott?
Lets stop pointing the finger at GArry Tyson for Goodwill's downfall. It started a long time ago. Shall I name any more?
I see Garry gave you his list of people to hate. You left out about 50+ names. Go back and check his list again, it might need updating.
I'm sure with the way things are going at Goodwill he has a lot more people to blame.
It's interesting that you list people who have a history of years on the job. Who purchased their own homes and still own them. Who retired with hefty retirement packages.
Some of these people even put up their homes as collateral to help Goodwill purchase the property they now own.
Compared to Garry who owns nothing and is constantly running from debt collectors and the IRS.
I can tell from your grammar that you are not very intelligent. That's probably why you are so easily led to believe the lies you have been told.
To Anonymous on 10/7/10-
I must applaud you for you arrogance and ignorance you have expressed here on this blog. When pointing fingers at folks, please make sure you do some research before you get on here because you have definitely set yourself up. For all of these people that you have named on your "Garry Tyson Hit-list", you look foolish in the accusations you are presenting. Do not hate because these people just so happen to know what 401K's, IRA's, good credit, and steady employment is. Do not hate because they knew and still know how to manage their assets. Furthermore, while these people were in office, the church HAD MONEY! We had savings, assets, and if times got rough, there was money available, 10's of thousands. Maybe if you too had your stuff together instead of being arrogant and ignorant (much like the leadership currently is at Goodwill right now), then you would be able to get the $54,000 needed to avoid the foreclosure of the Medina property and loss of the two parking lots. Maybe if you took your efforts to attack seniors and turned it in to a more positive stance, you would be able to make suggestions on how to renew Goodwill. But once again, arrogant plus ignorance equals a lost cause. I feel sorry for you and the people who are out to destroy Goodwill. May God have mercy on your souls!
Thank you "This is a Shame"
It's obvious that the comments made by October 7 are a trick of the Devil.
Garry uses lies to turn the members against one another. I have never heard of such evil.
He still doesn't have the church he wants - one full of ignorant people. He needs to get the smart, educated people to leave, so this is the tactic he uses.
He thrives on ignorance and he needs ignorant people on his side.
I feel sorry for October 7. How will they stand before God and explain their conduct?
It's just hilarious how fake some of you are and how your spirit pours out in the post. I know who 80% of the people posting negative comments are and the reason I know is because Goodwill is like high-school. Nobody can keep quiet about what they said or post. They just have to tell someone
I can call names trust me I can. But the truth of it all is bishop tyson is a man of God. The word comes from God through tysons lips and to the congregation. Now if you don't receive that because you are all a bunch of old angry farts Go elsewhere. stop being a bigger burden to the ministry trying to go forth. Leave. Go sow your seed in what you think is good soil.why stick around. I'm sure Progressive or mount baker or greater new bethel would love to have you!
Glad that you keep coming back and reading this blog. I'm encouraged that one day you will wake up and see the light.
It's amazing that you are so defensive. I wonder why that is?
Nothing posted here, except those messages by the "Tysonites", is false information. I would suggest that you do some checking for yourself.
Tyson made so many statements and comments about members himself from the pulpit. Of course he used the words "them" and "they" to refer the those members.
Like the comments "They came to my house, climbed on my roof and looked in my windows", "They have guns", and on and on it goes.
The comments made by one blogger about the Trustees and Deacons stealing all the money is ludicrous.
Why you idiots would believe that I don't understand. Of course I can see why a poor administrator (Tyson) wants to blame everybody else for the financial failures of the church.
I will continue to sit in the back of the church and wonder why Goodwill has come to this.
You can suggest all the churches you want.
Gary you are by far the 4th most idiot I know. It's members like you who sit in the back of Goodwill talking mess while the church burns. Do you not think God won't hold you accountable for His church also.
See if tyson leaves, Goodwill will be no better off. It's not like any of the former members would come back. Come back to what? The church would still be broke, members would still not give. The next pastor who comes is going to want salary and if you can't pay then what. No pastor is going to come without a salary. If tyson cut all his benefits Goodwill would still have a gripe about something.
Goodwill is like a bad apartment complex under new management (tyson). You can paint it and remodel all you want but if the same old hood rats hoodlums and trouble makers still live there its still no better.
Goodwill needs to be stripped to its few faithful members and start over fresh. Because a few bad weed can kill a garden.
Oh and if you think trustees don't steal money your stupid. When I was like 11 or 12 I went with a trustee to drop the money at the bank it wasn't until I got older did I realize the reason he was giving me 20 bucks was because he was taking a hell of a lot more. And this was back when the Great Rev H.B. Sampson Jr was here.
So I'm going to keep naming what I know is the truth. See you sit so far in the back you don't know what goes on up front.
Hello Gary, well it's nice to know who you really are finally.
A "faithful" member of Goodwill who sits in the back. My Grandmother always told me to sit up front near the fire; I'm glad I have followed her guidance, so I've not been tainted by the coldness in the back. Nothing but gossip, complaints and grumbling going on back there. Even some of the children have mentioned what they hear back there. You never speak of the gospel, the word being taught in detail from the pulpit; you only speak of what you perceive to be negatives, especially when the mention of the despicable ways the "good Christians" of Goodwill have taunted fellow human beings with threats of bodily harm and other tactics. You never speak against those acts, you just get upset that Pastor Tyson speaks about them.
I agree with the October 19th poster who said Goodwill is like high school. When members or former members call the loan office where the Medina mortgage is held and gossip about the infighting at Goodwill, that is certainly childish action. It's that mentality of "I don't like them, so I want you to dislike them to". Can you imagine the laughter going around the mortgage office at these "ignorant" church members. We wonder why even with an African American president, our race is still a joke to most of the nation.
To "This is a Shame" on October 11th; the Medina is not in or close to foreclosure. The $54k is to show the lender that there is sufficient finances to renew the loan. It's the same tactic homeowners use when either purchasing or refinancing; when they pay off debt and/or increase checking and savings accounts to present a more favorable financial picture.
It's been a long time since I posted, but I could not pass up this opportunity. Be Blessed!
As a former Trustee at Goodwill (I no longer live in the Seattle area)
let me clear up a few things.
After the money is counted in the Trustee office it is put into locked bags with the deposit slip. The keys to the bags are left at the church. The only key that is taken to the bank is the key to the bank deposit chute. Two Trustees must accompany the bags to the bank.
There is no way money can be taken from the bags unless they are cut open and if that happens the bank would not accept the bag.
If "I have proof" was accepting $20 from a Trustee on a bank run where money was stolen, they would be a thief too.
Think about it.
Here's some more information for you.
One of Garry's Deacons (not one of those he had Indiana motion off the Deacon Board) but one of his pets, stole over $5,000 from the church. In fact that was not the first time he stole money.
That information was shoved under the rug and wasn't brought up in one of your meetings.
You're led to believe that the Deacons and Trustees that were removed were taking money. You're even stupid enough to believe a dead man's wife is driving around in a car that Goodwill bought.
I suggest you go back through some of your financial statements and you'll see that Goodwill always had money up until Garry took control of the offical staff.
You might also want to take a look at the $20,000+ that was paid to Garry's lawyer. And here's a thought - since that money was not part of his contract it would be considered salary. I bet the IRS would be interested in knowing about that.
I hope they're reading this blog.
The deceased TRUSTEE everyone keeps referring to but never calls by name, had no reason to steal from Goodwill. He was financially secure in his own right and dedicated to Goodwill's well being. I worked with him in the Trustee ministry and never had any concerns with his leadership save one, his unwillingness to be open to change. However, that is a common trait of many older members. Let this man R.I.P.
To Anonymous who posted October 25th, the deacon referred to regarding the theft of money, was a deacon in training under Pastor Sampson when I started at Goodwill. He left sometime during the time Goodwill was without a pastor, but it was already known that he had sticky figures.
When he returned, Bishop Tyson knew nothing about this man, but accepted his return as a deacon with the recommendation of the serving deacons at the time who knew his history. Explain to me how that makes him "Tyson's" pet. Sounds to me as if he was the "deacons" pet.
Bishop Tyson is the one who pulled the rug from under this man, when he became aware of his propensities. It was mentioned in so many words at a special meeting after a Sunday service, when it was announced by Bishop Tyson that this man would no longer function in the capacity of deacon. I guess you missed that meeting, and no one thought to give you that gossip.
Finally, you need to read the tax code concerning clergy. They are in a unique position, they are not required to file taxes, so the IRS is really not interested in anything you may wish to divulge. But go right ahead, waste your time and theirs. Be Blessed.
Another Tyson idiot.
Here's what the IRS says about preachers and taxes. It's found here -
http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc417.html
If you are a minister performing ministerial services, you are taxed on wages, offerings, and fees you receive for performing marriages, baptisms, funerals, etc
To a former trustee who doesn't live in Seattle
Yes I was a thief. At twelve years old when someone hands you twenty dollars you take it no questions asked especially if its someone from the church you at that age have no reason to distrust. So yeah I admit it 100%
Now let me clear things up for you since you seem to be so naive. A thief finds ways to steal money. That's why there called thiefs! Thiefs rob banks and the money is in safe. So to say there is no way, you are highly mistaken. For all you know he didn't lock the bag like everyone thought i don't know. But what the fact is that stealing was going on and had been acknowledged.
You can be a former whatever you are. The correct word is FORMER! And just because you was not aware of the stealing that's on you.
Now at he end of the day if the deacons and trustees can't steal money than neither can tyson because of the lack of access. We all agree he had no access so who was taking it? Sticky finger Trustees. You don't think they can't change the numbers on the books and the deposit slips. Come on don't be naive to what can happen. Like a said a thief will find away to steal. In the bible the brother tricked his father into giving him his brothers inheritance. Stealing is not new maybe just new to you
If someone said Tyson was stealing money it wasn't me. He just has a way of getting what he wants because he uses weak officials to do it.
That's why he had to have the Trustees and some of the Deacons removed. Now he has a group of people that will do his bidding.
Here's an example: On what job can you take a days and days off of work and then ask for vacation pay at the end of the year? In Tysons world you can.
It's funny that this Trustee and Deacon stealing story only came up after things started to go bad at Goodwill. It's also funny that the story of your $20 blackmail scheme just came out. Are you still getting the $20 from the crooked Deacons or has it gone up?
You can spin any kind of story Tyson tells you to but I worked in that Trustee office for years and there were too many people in there to take even a penny. And your story of the Trustee taking $20 out of the bag and giving it to you to keep your mouth shut is a bunch of crap.
And you're right a thief will find ways to steal money. Of course taking vacation pay that you are not entitled to is just a love offering.
Goodwill, have you still not learned? Have you still not awaken to the reality which is at hand? A part of our community is in grave danger of being lost, yet you believe the half truths and whole lies that the "executive" board continues to tell. I pray that the people that remain at Goodwill currently open their eyes and realize that soon there may not be a Goodwill to attend. Realize and know your facts on how loans work, and if they are not paid, it puts everything you own in jeopardy of being lost. I pray that you start asking valid questions and not be afraid of backlash that may come up on you for simply trying to obtain the truth. Remember, people put up their homes, drained their life savings in order for Goodwill to survive and pay it in full...It is not business as usual, and I pray that you would stop acting as if it is! WAKE UP!
I agree with "This is a Shame". Goodwill did you really not understand what we were trying to tell you?
Your leadership is leading you to disaster. You've sat there in those meetings with your big mouths closed and didn't even ask questions about what was going on.
You only opened your mouths when you were instructed to by Garry Tyson and he only wanted you to drown us out so you wouldn't hear what we had to say.
You should never have purchased that Medina building. You paid over 1 miiion dollars for a building that was only appraised at eight hundred thousand dollars. That's why you had to take over 2 hundred thousand dollars out of your savings and put up the 2 parking lots to complete the purchase.
Now the Christian Community Credit Union is not going to refinance the building and you will lose the building and the parking lots because your credit is so bad you can not get financing anywhere else.
There is some talk about putting the church up as collteral for the re-finance but you would be fools to do that.
You are being led by someone who is not financially sound and he will lead you straight to the disaster.
Take a look at what has happened in the last 5 years. Your bank accounts are empty. Your membership has dramatically decreased. Your credit rating has been ruined.
You continue to put messages in this blog telling us to leave Tyson alone. Even threatening us.
WAKE UP - the problem is you and your inability to face the truth.
We could care less about Tyson. He'll leave when there is nothing left.
Please don't lose your church. If you put it up and can't pay that monthly loan payment you will.
y'all niggaz is crazy!
Characteristics of Unhealthy, Abusive and Cultic Church Environments
Power-Posturing - leaders spend a lot of time focused on their own authority and reminding others of it, as well.
Performance Preoccupation - In abusive spiritual systems, power is postured and authority is legislated. Therefore, these systems are preoccupied with the performance of their members. Obedience and submission are two important words often used.
Unspoken Rules - people's lives are controlled from the outside in by rules, spoken and unspoken. Unspoken rules are those that govern unhealthy churches or families but are not said out loud. Because they are not said out loud, you don't find out that they're there until you break them.
Lack of Balance (Extreme Objectivism or Extreme Subjectivism)
Paranoia - there is a sense, spoken or unspoken, that "others will not understand what we're all about, so let's not let them know-- that way they won't be able to ridicule or persecute us." There is an assumption that (1) what we say, know, or do is a result of our being more enlightened that others; (2) others will not understand unless they become one of us; and (3) others will respond negatively.
Misplaced Loyalty ("We Alone Are Right", Scare Tactics and Humiliation)- a misplaced sense of loyalty is fostered and even demanded. We're not talking about loyalty to Christ, but about loyalty to a leader.
Secretive - When you see people in a religious system being secretive-- watch out. People don't hide what is appropriate; they hide what is inappropriate.
Abusive leaders base their spiritual authority on their position or office rather than on their service to the group. Their style of leadership is authoritarian.
Leaders in abusive churches often say one thing but do another. Their words and deeds do not match.
They manipulate people by making them feel guilty for not measuring up spiritually.
Abusive leaders are preoccupied with looking good. They labor to keep up appearance. They stifle any criticism that puts them in a bad light.
They seek honorific titles and special privileges that elevate them above the group. They promote a class system with themselves at the top.
Their communication is not straight. Their speech becomes especially vague and confusing when they are defending themselves.
They major on minor issues to the neglect of the truly important ones. They are conscientious about religious details but neglect God's larger agendas.
I want to relate a true story about my experience at this church.
The pastor is associated with the Cathedral of Covenant Fellowship based in Columbus, Ohio. Our church found out the hard way that many of these pastors in this Fellowship are not leaders but dictators and dishonest.
Before this man became our pastor he explained to us that he believed what our church believed and then when he became our pastor he changed his colors, reneged on his promises.
He has stood before the church and said "What ever I tell you to do you just do it. You don't question me. If you don't do what I tell you to do you are not humble". That is exactly what every cult leader and false prophet has been saying since the fall of man.
This man manipulates through fear. He preaches one thing and does totally the opposite.
He was what I call a "Purpose Driven Pastor because through his actions he has run off a lot of the older members who have served in the church faithfully for years just so he could have his way.
He doesn't lead, he tries to force people to do his will. He embarrasses people from the pulpit if they do not do exactly what he wants them to do. Even though people try to talk with him and explained that they were not comfortable with doing certain things he would still try to force people against their will.
Through his actions he does not believe on waiting on the Holy Spirit. He has completely restructured the church.
I have talked with other Baptist preachers who know some of the Pastors who are in this Fellowship and they relate some similar stories. Many of them are not leaders but pushers and cult leaders.
This is the reason I will not have anything to do with organized religion. There is no control over what these so called "Men of God" can do. They are not held accountable for anything. Even after some of them have served time in prison for things they are "caught" doing, they return to start a new church somewhere else and begin their evil doings again.
Over and over it is happening. They have no moral values. It's so easy for them to take advantage of people who come to church because those people are vunerable and believe what they are told.
They take the scriptures and twist them around to benefit themselves.
It's a shame.
The Catholics have an order that makes their priests accountable for what they do, but the Baptists, Pentecostals, COGIC, AME, CME, etc, have not such board that puts them on the carpet. Probably because they don't want the spotlight placed on them.
I think there needs to be a law passed that requires all Pastors to be investigated before they are allowed to start a church. I know the IRS is investigating some of the larger churches, but the smaller ones are not complying either. These Pastors are pulling down large salaries and still are getting all kind of money under the table that they are not reporting.
The statement that there should be a seperation of church and state is being used to the preachers advantage.
US Government, you need to wake up. If you want to solve some of the country's financial problems, look to the churches. Check these so called "houses of God" and these "Men of God", you'll find a lot of cheating going on.
You'll also find men in robes who are hurting people and stealing you blind.
I am totally speechless! Garry has now truly lost it! Changing the denomination of Goodwill from "Baptist" to "Apostolic"? You have got to be kidding me! Apparently, people who cannot afford to start their own church, believe that it is ok to take some that has been consecrated by God and turn it in to their own personal project. Not so! God's wrath is no joke! Have mercy on the ones who are going along with this uncalled for "change"!
To the Poster on September 8, 2011:
So I hope you attended services at Goodwill today. In the future perhaps you will be sure to check and re-check your facts before you get people all worked up for nothing. Had you attended September 9,2011 before posting September 8th another false rumor could have been prevented. FYI,the fellowship that was held on Friday,September 9th, was not Apostolic, which is Pentecostal. Full Gospel,is a Baptist organization.
September 11, here's one thing you need to know.
Tyson has a Napoleon complex or small man's syndrome. He is a little man who wants to be big.
The only person he cannot control is Nicole and he needs her to prove he is big enough to get a "hot chick".
When he came to Seattle as a Bishop, he expected all the Baptist preachers in the area to view him as their leader, since there were no Baptist Bishops in the area. That did not happen, they ignored him and his title.
The only church that he could get to follow him was New Life in Lacey, WA.
He basically needs power to make himself seem more than he is.
At first he did not want to have anything to do with the local Baptist conventions but now he has wiggled his way in as Vice-President probably with hopes of gaining the top position.
This talk of Full Gospel is just another attempt at glory for himself.
Currently there is no Full Gospel Churches in the Washington State area and this is a good opportunity for him to become a Council Bishop for this division.
If he has his sights on this position there is nothing that Goodwill can do about it. Goodwill will become Goodwill Full Gospel Baptist Church. He will have his group of cronies gather all of their relatives and friends to come in and vote for whatever he wants.
Unfortunately, Goodwill is lost and won't recover from this man.
Goodwill has lost some highly intelligent and progressive thinking members in the last few years.
It is apparent that Tyson does not want those type of people in the congregation.
He likes dumb members who cannot think for themselves and are easily led.
It's an example of a church that is run by cult rules.
You must praise and worship HIM and not God if you want to be a part of his circle.
So, Tyson was up in the pulpit on Sunday begging for money to get his wife's mouth fixed. That bitch needs her mouth fixed, but it needs to be sewn shut.
Nothng has come out of that mouth since she's been there but evil.
Garry tyson is Da best
Bishop tyson us the best. He was sent to show Seattle the savior king county the king of kings pacific northwest the prince of peace
We have a good praise team sing rose
To "I Love Bishop" - your comments are evidence of the idiots that are going to this church. Get a brain.
It's time to stop talking about bishop. He is human and not perfect. I wish that we all come together n talk. All the members that left cine back and start over. I'm not for drama im for forgiveness. Thats what God wants. It's time out for the church to get it right on both sides of this. And the people that are for bishop stop calling the people against hum right now demons that's wrong. We have to sit down and work things out. Both sides are hurt but if we have a common goal n layout than Gods plan Will grow and progress. Goodwill is good ground but us beinf divided has to stop. I want to be first to ask can we work on getting back together and forgive each other. I pray that bishop will love that too. Cuz leaders love the members too yall. I want goodwill to be like it used to be. It's not a bishop thang its a God thang ok. So all the ones that left I love you. Please forgive me. I forgive you. You are not demons you are hurt by the situation. I understand your heart. So understand ny heart. Too. That I want for goodwill forgiveness.
You actually thnk people will come back to Goodwill when Tyson has all those thugs running around there threatening people. His so called security people are all former convicts.
Why does he need security? He has nothing anyone whould want. They jump up even when the two of them go to the bathroom.
That is not good ground. It's tainted with all the hurt of those who Tyson turned people against. Ask him to show you his list of people he wanted out of Goodwill. I'm sure he will tell you that he doesn't want them back.
There are too many good churches around for me to come back to the evil that's going on there.
Open your stupid eyes.
i understand how you feel. my eyes are not stupid. maybe the sercurity that you refer to needs to stop i admit. but i want the church to reconcile starting with me and you. hows that. I will listen to you and you listen to me and we will forgive each other. thats the problem with us we havnt meet down the middle on this. Yes i love bishop but the sheep has to get together. we been so divided so long that we act like its acceptable. its not. goodwill is not evil and people in it aint either. we just have issues that wasnt address in a Godly manner on both sides. we have to admit we were wrong too cuz we like to say what ur doin but we are doin the same. its time for the sheep to gather together and forgive starting with me. please forgive me for saying things about what you guys have done. i was wrong. i saw the negitive but didnt look at why is that sheep feeling the way. God want us to come together. i forgive deacon long. at the end of the day he had to do what he had to do. hard to admit. He loved goodwill he gave his time talent and trusuer to this church. also we must forgive the mitchell family cuz at the end of the day they are hurt the most. and mitchell family forgive me. im not saying i did anything wrong to nobody what im saying is that im sorry for not coming to the add of sheep. your my brother your my sister. i cant brush you to the side cuz you dont like bishop. that wrong on my part and others. so its time for us to forgive and forget and reconcile and come back to goodwill and lets do Gods work. we can start over. because Gods coming for a church with no spots so lets move on
I love Bishop, can you please tell me what Deacon Long or the Mitchell's do. How is this complete situation their fault. It does take two to tango. I do agree there needs to be healing, I doubt that people will come back, but you opening up and being forgiving is a start. I think people have moved on to other churches and they are happy and growing. I believe Goodwill needs to work with the people they have and move on also. I hope and pray that the church can grow, but from what I see from the outside it doesn't look like it is growing. I will continue to pray for Goodwill and I wish all the best of luck
To I love bishop
ARE YOU A COMPLETE IDIOT?
What do Decaon Long and the Mitchells have to apologize for?
These are poeple who helped build that church.
Tyson has only been there since 2004 and there has been nothing but destruction since he came.
When he put Indiana Allen and that bunch of idiots up to removing the official staff the downfall began.
Who would want to come back there. That church is being run by a bunch of kool-aid drinking former convicts and idiots led by a Jim Jones imitator.
I would suggest that Goodwill is just the place for you. You are blind, deaf and dumb - just the kind of members that Tyson likes.
deacon long didnt do anything wrong and the mitchells we owe them apology. cuz that the church they built. There is 400 people in the mitchell family and how many of them come to goodwill only 7 that not cool. we have to embrace this family. but both sides has done wrong. if we goin to make this work we have to reconcile. we have to love we have have to stop talking about bishop and let him lead as he follows GOD. can we do that. only thing that deacon long did was wrong was leave goodwill. we dont see him enough so sad i miss him. but both fail to understand that you have failed the future. you tault that its ok to fight against each other. its ok to slander the pastor. its ok to to blog against the church that GOD built. i look up to you ur my elders this is what your teaching me. The generation of are future has to see something different, they need to see love joy forgiveness and respect. please tell that we can do that. yes im a idiot cuz i want GODS love to shine on goodwill. i will be a idiot ok that fine. I love this church. but we need to work it out ok.Iwant all the members that left to come back and reconcile. Dont you see that GOD would want that. we need to get right church and lets go home
To "I Love Bishop"
I think the reason you want the members back is because you're broke and you need their money.
You kicked out members who were paying their tithes. One trustee was paying over $1000 a month another payed over $800 and others were paying close to $500. Tyson convinced you that these Trustees were stealing the churches money.
Let's just lay this out. If a Trustee has a job that pays over $100,000 a year, owns several homes, drives a car that is paid for, has money in the bank and faithfully pays their tithes you idiots beleive that this person is stealing church money.
The person who made you believe that - Owns no home, has to have other people sign for them to buy a car or rent a house, begs for money to pay their bills, and has bill collectors chasing them.
And you are stupid enough to believe that and vote them out of office and drive them from the church.
Now you're in a financial hurt and you want them back.
Well, that's too bad.
Look to the one who got you in this mess.

Some churchgoers believe pastors (even bad ones) are virtually untouchable. Because of their position and function within the local church, they are seen as being above any charge of indiscretion. People who hold this view will even guard a corrupt Pastor by immediately denying and dismissing any allegation of misconduct before careful consideration.
When members find the courage to speak out, they are often branded as trouble makers and/or demonized as a part of a scheme to bring down the ministry.
Some people tolerate pastoral misconduct because it gives them political leverage or secures their position within the church. They keep pastoral indiscretions a secret in exchange for certain favors from their leader or out of fear that if he should lose his power, so would they.
Many congregations (particularly autonomous ones like the Baptist) are not set up for genuine pastoral accountability. In some settings, the pastor is basically a solitary autocrat, with no real checks on his decisions or behavior. This makes it very difficult for a congregation to properly deal with pastoral abuses.
Some pastors even promote this way of thinking, sometimes suggesting that they are not accountable to anybody but God. Others will systematically dismantle even legitimate restrictions on their power. In these situations, it's not uncommon to hear people say if a pastor sins you should just pray about it and move on. This is often an admission that a congregation has left itself vulnerable to abuse by its leadership. There isn't anyone within the congregation itself truly equipped or authorized to confront pastoral misconduct.
Some pastors in these settings may demonstrate enough maturity to do the right thing should they get caught up, however these congregations are not structurally equipped to protect themselves against a corrupt pastor who won't.
Sometimes deacon boards or boards of directors serve as a kind of power balance. However, few deacons or lay-members are properly equipped to correct a wayward pastor.
Make no mistake about it. The Bible never calls Christians to remain loyal to corrupt leaders. In fact, the Bible clearly forbids churches from clinging to such pastors. 1 Timothy 5:20 says As for those [pastors] who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear. There are precious few congregations willing to obey this biblical command. Can you imagine a local Black church publically reprimanding a corrupt pastor by bringing him before the congregation, calling out his sin, and sitting him down?
Probably not. However in many cases, this is exactly what God's word calls us to do.
I agree with the above comment.
It's the reason black churches are dying. They are dying from ignorance.
Goodwill is a good example of a church that has been manipulated by a smooth talking dude pretending to be a holy man.
Look how many black churches in Seattle have had to close their doors from the same disease Goodwill is suffering from.
It's a shame and the people sitting in the pews are partly to blame for being ignorant.
Understand that the people that left don't want to come back.
What happened was a real eye opener that alowed them to discover that there was no spiritual training going on there.
I looked at at how things progressed after March, 2008 and saw a situation that was not Godly led by a person that was not Godly.
You can say whatever you want about the comments that are left here but it shows that you are not using spiritual eyes to read them or you would see that people have been hurt.
Things that happended at Goodwill have turned some away from church all together.
We don't care if you don't want us back. Your words prove that you have been trained to hate and that's why Goodwill is no longer "good ground".
Goodbye Pastor - Hello Jesus
Your stinking resolutions are no type of solution
Preventing us from freedom
Maintaining your pollution
I won't support your lies no more
I won't even try no more
If I have to die,
That's how I choose to live
I won't be compromised no more
I can't be victimized no more
I just don't sympathize no more
Cuz now I understand
You just wanna use me
You say "love" then abuse me
You never thought you'd loose me
But how quickly we forget
That nothin' is for certain
You thought I'd stay here hurting
Your guilt trip's just not workin'
Repressin' me to death
Cuz now I'm choosin' life, yo
I take the sacrifice,
If everything must go, then go
That's how I choose to live
That's how I choose to live...
No more compromises
I see past your diguises
Blindin' through mind control
Stealin' our eternal soul
Appealin' through material
To keep me as your slave
But I get out
Oh, I get out of all your boxes
I get out
Oh, you can't hold me in these chains
I'll get out
Oh, I want out of social bondage
Knowin' my condition
Oh, is the reason I must change
See, what you see is what you get
Oh, and you ain't seen nothin' yet
Oh, I don't care if you're upset
I could care less if you're upset
See it don't change the truth
And your hurt feeling's no excuse
To keep me in this box
Psychological locks
Repressin' true expression
Cementin' this repression
Promoting mass deception
So that no one can be healed
I don't respect your system
I won't protect your system
When you talk I don't listen
Oh, let my Father's will be done
I just accepted what you said
Keeping me among the dead
The only way to know
Is to walk then learn and grow
But faith is not your speed
Oh, you'd had everyone believe
That you're the sole authority
Just follow the majority
Afraid to face reality
The system is a joke
Oh, you'd be smart to save your soul
Oh, and escape this mind control
You spent your life in sacrifice
To a system for the dead
Oh, are you sure...
Where is the passion in this living
Are you sure it's God you serving
Obligated to a system
Getting less then you're deserving
Who made up these schools, I say
Who made up these rules, I say
Animal conditioning
Oh, just to keep us as a slave
If it doesn't draw you to God it is of the devil. False prophets are those whose prohecy turns out to be a lie from the pits of hell. I wish people would stand up for what they know is true. Is it true repentence if you try to cover for someone's lie?
Are you really led by the Holy Spirit when you persecute others? Is that really Love? If you truly repent of wrong doings do you need to apologize to the person/people wronged? Just some thoughts

What evil lies in the hearts of false prophets?
Goodwill, will you continue to be led by this man who's only goal is to take from you and then try and destroy you?
Last nights business meeting proves that there is a devil in our midst. I could not believe that this man that I have been calling Pastor is so evil.
Maybe I was at a different meeting last night than the poster at 12:52 march 3rd.
I saw and heard a certain male member of Goodwill open the door to for his personal business to be exposed. He came with the intentions of embarrassing the Pastor, but instead the revelation of a known issue of 20yrs ago was divulged.
Remember the old saying, "when you dig a ditch for someone, remember to dig one for yourself".
Instead of seeing evil in Bishop Tyson, who simply explained his part in this situation; why are you not appalled at the fact that many of the long term members at Goodwill (some were in attendance last night) knew of this, did not speak out against the alleged perpetrator and allowed this man to be in charge of our church family children. That's the evil I saw.
If you are a member of Goodwill, I suggest you listen to the tape from the meeting and then decide for yourself "where the evil is".
If Bishop Tyson is so evil, why did he not use this bombshell during his persecution by the old guard of Goodwill.
In response to Anonymous posted March 3rd @ 12:49:
“God Don’t Like Ugly…” And more so, if after we all have stopped and intelligently reflected upon our ability to accept and truly own our actions as ugly, then why would we continue to act ugly?
… Unless ugly is also equivalent to STUPID.
Funny how "Anonymous" posted the following when all of her business was put out there, but then turns around less than a year later and says that Gary should have brought up the false accusations made against someone...funny how the tables turn when Aileen isn't the one being talked about. She's ready to sue then, but then it's ok to defame the character of another? Looks like that "koolaid" of double standards that's being served up weekly at Goodwill is hittin for her!
Aileen, do you remember typing the following?
"To Anonymous who posted June 11, 2010 at 9:11AM.
Get an attorney, do your research, then Holla Back."
Maybe the person who had falsehoods and lies told about him by someone who is supposed to be his pastor, should take his "leader" to court for defamation.
It's interesting that you speak about the old guard. One Deacon wants to talk about what another Deacon did 20 years ago when he's been sleeping with another woman for years. He'll shove anyone under the bus to protect himself and his position.
You have another Deacon who has been convicted of sexual assualt, drug offenses, gun charges and who knows what else. Is anyone getting up in church telling about him. Check out his business, how many agencies is he de-frauding by hiring people and paying them under the table.
Another Deacon who has spent time in jail for drug charges. Is he still dealing?
How come your tattle - tale Deacon didn't tell about the stealing Deacon before he got his hands back in the cookie jar and stole again?
How anyone would want to stay in a church like this, I don't know.
You have to be one of the Tyson elite or your past will be thrown up in your face just to get you out of the church.
How many more poeple does he want to get rid of?
Ask Deacon McDonald about the two ministers who are still on the list of Associate Ministers who have actually been accused of sexualy harrasment by two young girls in the church.
That information was brought to Tyson and nothing was done about it. Why weren't they kicked out of the pulpit?
Oh, that's right they're his buddies.
I did not mean to post previously as anonymous, I was in a hurry.
First remember to spell my name correctly, it is "Aleen".
The information that was revealed on last Friday night was brought to attention not by Bishop Tyson but by the accused. Once he opened the door he allowed anyone with information to speak on the subject. It was not on the agenda so why did he bring it up at an open business meeting.
Bishop Tyson did not accuse him of anything, he simply followed the law as a Washington State "mandatory reporter" to notify the authorities of what the victim and her therapist told him. Obviously the state felt there was something to the allegations or the business would not have been closed.
I think you misunderstood my question re why didn't Bishop Tyson bring this information up during the trying times. I did not mean in court, I meant to Goodwill. Why didn't he use the information he had against the accused, when all of the ugliness in business meetings was going on.
I realize it would carry no weight in a court room, but it sure might have been an equalizer at a meeting.
If you know so much about other leaders transgression, why are you not bringing this to the forefront. Calling them out in their sins; oh, I forgot you only gossip about what you've heard and throw stones from bushes and hedges where you can't be seen.
Like when you said I was in prison for stabbing Carl's father. Be sure you continue to come to Goodwill, so you can meet Carl's dad. He would really like to meet you this summer and discuss this with you. So would Carl for that matter.
Yes, we know who you are. Unlike you, I will not post your name on the internet, but in court papers. Since I'm retiring at the end of this month, I'll have plenty of time to give this my full attention. You didn't think I had forgotten did you? But thanks for the reminder.
I would love to have you served on a 1st Sunday, so be sure to never miss communion.
But I digress from the current matter. I place you in the same category I mentioned before, people who know of wrong doing, but never seem to have the courage to speak out against it,except anonymously in formats such as this.
I know, next you'll say I have been calling it out on this blog. No, you're just ranting here. I mean bring forth your evidence and give it to a reputable entity, so these minister's and deacon's you are accusing can be brought before someone who can do something about it.
Better yet, go to the people you are referring to and let them know you are aware of their wrong doing and you are willing to make it public knowledge with names, dates, times and locations.
Since you feel the leaders of the church are corrupt, bring it to light and let the law of the land decide.
But, I suppose that would take courage & bravery, which you obviously don't have. So I'll make a deal with you, since we both think wrongs should be righted and evil called out. Get the evidence to me,"anonymously" of course, since that's your comfort zone.
Be sure it's current information and documented, I don't spread gossip. I'm not afraid of anyone at Goodwill, including Bishop Tyson and I have nothing to lose because my life's history is not tied to Goodwill and owe no alligiance to anyone there;I'd be happy to take it the proper authorities.
But remember, bearing false witness against thy brother is a sin ;you've already done it to me. Let that be your last time.
That's my challenge to you. In the meantime, I'll see you at the Will and/or in court.
This isn't who you're threatening ALEEN, but making idle threats is a sin as well. One is not greater than the other... sin is sin and you would know that IF you were being taught something @ Goodwill, but clearly, the word is not being served there. LOL
If you are not the one who told the lie about my family, then no problem. You will not be the one I see in court. When U post anonymously, you sometimes get tarred with the same brush.
U are probably not qualified to advice me about sin, because the backbiting and spreading of untruths about your fellow man is sinful too; so U are a part of the sin on this blog.
However, in response to your statement of idle threats, I NEVER make them. If I say I will do something, if it is God's will I will. In the past I've even done things that were not in His will, but then I admit I'm a sinner too as we all are.
My time frame for getting it done may not be when U or others think it should be. I wait for guidance.
The word is going forth at Goodwill, as it is in other churches, but if you chose to be oblivious to it so be it.
Goodwill is not my first church, I am not a new Christian; I am a better Christian today and I do attribute some of my improvement to the teachings of Bishop Tyson, along with the lessons I receive from my Mother. I've been under the cross for a long time, and have been taught the word by great men and women.
Maybe U should try listening more, proving what's taught by studying the the Bible and learning to apply those teachings where needed in your own life. Rather than focusing on who is teaching and their faults. Since we all have them
Perhaps U will be truly converted and your criticism of others and gossiping about them will decrease. I've found that it takes all my time and focus to handle my own spiritual business, so I don't have much to spare for other people's business.
If U truly believe the Bible, then let God be who He is and do what He does best. Who are U to judge, what insight do U have into the hearts of others, what heaven or hell do U have to send sinners to.
I'll be waiting for U to accept my challenge to provide accurate and confirmed information and/or documents of wrong doing by leaders at Goodwill to me, and I will call them out on it.
Aleen
I am not the one who put your business out there but I was sexually harrassed by one of Tyson's pet Deacons and physically abused by another. I am a grown woman and I knew how to handle the situations but the youth that were harrassed did not and went to Tyson with their concerns and nothing was done.
It's sad that you are so blind to what has gone on at Goodwill.
Tyson will continue to work to destroy anyone that he no longer wants at Goodwill.
He uses ignorant people like you and McDonald to continue to carry out his agenda.
U've told me once already you are not the person who slandered me, you don't have to repeat yourself.
You call me ignorant, yet U say there are leaders in Goodwill who harrassed and abused not only U, but also children, and nothing was done.
What steps did U take to bring this to the attention of the authorities and the church at large? Who are U protecting? Is your reputation or standing at Goodwill more important than the safety of our children? How smart are U to have this knowledge and not help put a stop to these actions?
Since I'm not a part of the gossip mill at Goodwill, I have no knowledge of any of these accusations U speak of. I cannot comment on them.
What I will say to U for third time is this: I will be happy to help shed light on the darkness U claim is pervasive at Goodwill and caused by Bishop Tyson and his pets as U call them. Give me something to work with and I'll run with it
What I won't do is this: I will not get caught up in gossip and innuendo. I will not accuse anyone of wrong doing without proof. I will not defame others simply on what is said by someone else.
If that makes me ignorant, then I will remain so because the Bible not just BishopTyson teaches me that the tongue is a murderer.
At this point who cares about what happens at GMBC, those who are there and willing to stay under Tyson's leadership, so beit, and for those who left, so beit. At the end of the day you have to face God. It's sad that Tyson wants to sue the State for telling Deacon Long that Tyson was the one who sent the letter regarding allegations of abuse, people have the right to face their accusers and if Tyson felt he was doing the right thing and their was no malicious intent behind what he was doing, then there is no reason to be upset or threaten to sue anybody.
What's sad is no one is talking to each other, trust is out the window, everyone must fall to their knees (including Tyson) and ask for forgives and repent of their sins. Also the church will not prosper with all the back biting, gossip, lack of trust, stealing, deceitfulness. PLEASE STOP AND PRAY EVERYONE!!! Move on with your life and enjoy the beauty that God has for each and everyone of you
Amen to the last poster's comments. Prayer and patience for God's will to be done is certainly what's needed. All will be judged with Christ's return.
With that said, I say goodbye and God Bless to all you bloggers. I retire in 12 more working days and I know God has more important things for me to do for His glory than continue this debate.
If you ever want to have a sincere conversation with me, you know where to find me. I'll be at Goodwill getting my praise on for God's many blessings in my life.
I left Goodwill in 2006. I am so glad to be away from that hate filled atmosphere.
It wasn't too hard to see what was going on and where the church was headed.
I am now a member of a wonderful church. My Pastor is bi-vocational, which means he has a full time job as well as serving as Senior Pastor. He holds two "real" degrees as well as a Doctor of Divinity. He is a tenured professor at a local college.
Our church is open at 6:30 AM, Monday - Friday for those who want to come in and have coffee and donuts and pray before they go to work and our Pastor is there too.
There are activites going on all day long. Bible study for stay at home Moms, Child Care, Senior Bible Study, Classes for Seniors, etc.
This is a church who cares about it's members and not just one man and his family.
There is no Pastor's Anniversaries, Church Anniversaries, and all that crazy stuff that depletes the church treasury.
Two years ago we built an addition onto the church - all paid for.
This is a church where members can grow and care about one another.
And, the Pastor is white. He teaches. None of this screaming and yelling from the pulpit. None of that hooping and sounding like something is caught in their throat. I now realize that that is all an act to cover up the fact that there is nothing in the message.
And no, there is no "caught up in the spirt", people yelling and falling out. But they are filled with a word that they can take home with them and enrich their lives.
I don't miss any of that craziness at Goodwill.
I have been following this blog and others similar to it for awhile now. I am in the process of writing a book on "Church Hurt". I know there are other books on this subject but your situation seems to be a little different.
I have done some research on your Pastor and it was real interesting.
I will be in the Seattle area in June and will visit your church to experience for myself.
I have some of the names of the displaced members and will try and contact them.
